I would rather take my business to the Melba restaurant than the superficial China Bar. There isn’t a huge selection of sushi available because it’s lunch time, just your generic salmon rolls and a couple more. At dinner this area becomes much more exciting, because not only do things like scallop sushi get added to the selection, but this is also where they slice up the fresh sashimi. The fruits are seasonal, with apples, watermelon, oranges, and nectarines on offer. Very nice variety, many dishes to choose from, the buffet was colourful and vibrant. My favourite was a sashimi platter with raw salmon and the Hainan chicken dish was delicious.
It wasnt cheap and especially if you factor in a few beers/drinks on top. The Peking duck was the best thing, while desserts were a huge disappointment. Id say go for it at this price - just dont expect the best quality.

There were lots of large groups - families with young kids and groups of friends celebrating their birthdays. I suppose a buffet lunch at CBS is a good idea if you want a place that would cater to most people for a not-too-expensive price . We came here, not because we were keen on dining at CBS, because we were doing Beaker a favour by helping her use up her CBS vouchers that were due to expire very soon. Although the Lawyer and I didn't have to pay a cent for the food here, Beaker had originally paid a discounted price for the vouchers. Overall, we think Ice Kirin Bar is a great spot for ice cream in Burwood! We would definitely visit Ice Kirin Bar again if we were in the area.
