The second picture above shows the Executive Room with Open-Air Bath – Annex room, which also offers one-of-a-kind views of Yufuin’s nature. Surrounded by nature, each one comes equipped with an open-air bath fed directly from a hot spring source and features its own unique design so that guests can choose a room that best suits them. The picture above shows the luxury-type Satsuma Villa 5, which includes a pool with unparalleled views of the bay and 奄美市 マッサージ Ibusuki City. There isn’t a sight more Japanese than a one-story, thatched roof house surrounded by rice fields and mountain forest. Every one of its guest cottages comes with a semi-open-air bath or semi + full open-air bath combo, all filled with simple hot spring water that’s safe to use by adults, children, and the elderly. This auberge (French-style) resort merges high-class hospitality with the natural World Heritage spoils of Yakushima.
Ryukyu indigo was put into water and fermented, and cotton, basho, silk, etc. were dyed to make twill weaves and morning clothes. Ryukyu indigo dyeing has a history of using Ryukyu indigo dyeing for mud dyeing and other dyeing of Amami Oshima Tsumugi, a traditional craft that has been passed down since 1300 years ago. Currently, he presides over the brand “Hitsuki Hoshikusa” that shares the blessings of plants.

A void connects the library to the MAGUN Plaza below so that hotel guests can feel the presence and activity of the locals and the seniors living in the eldercare facility. “Denpaku + Magun” is a facility that consists of a hotel, eldercare facility, eatery and food mart, repurposed from a former supermarket. It is a ten minute drive from Amami airport, in the northern part of Amami Oshima, a subtropical island which belongs to Kagoshima Prefecture. The supermarket used to be a place where the locals gathered and socialized. This renovated facility aims to recreate a hub for everyone in the community, including the socially vulnerable and tourists. Widely distributed in Southeast Asia, Thailand, India, Taiwan, etc.
Photogenic landscapes that can only be found on this island can be found here and there. We have also started trial production of various indigo dyeing works. The hotel consists of 7 guest cottages spread all around the foot of the Kirishima mountains. Each is different and features an open-air bath fed from the hotel’s private source. It’s the perfect place to relax in comfortable, private surroundings while enjoying the soothing sounds of nature. The first picture above shows the view from the OCEAN VILLA, where guests can enjoy the kind of peace, quiet, and splendorous nature that only Amami Oshima can offer.

I didn’t know the details, and the time I stayed at the place I went to for the first time was about 3 hours. I stayed on Kakeromajima, a small island about 20 minutes by boat from the main island of Amami, and while helping the fields, my body became healthy while interacting with nature.
If the weather conditions are right, you can enjoy the hotel baths at sunrise, with stars above your head and mist enveloping the land, creating a magical atmosphere. For those wanting to experience the best of Yufuin’s nature and hot springs, this is the hotel to do it. As for future efforts, various ideas based on indigo dyeing are expanding. For example, we are developing a program like a kit that makes it easy to dye at home by publishing a video of how to dye online. Also, it would be nice to have a box set where you can enjoy Amami’s vegetation and a membership-based community, packed with products using island herbs along with Aizen. We hope that you will learn about Amami’s culture, herbs, and Ryukyu indigo through the fun of dyeing.
This Ryukyu indigo is a special indigo that grows only in a limited hot area, unlike the Tadeai and Indian indigo that are often used for general indigo dyeing. Due to its low fertility and the inability to produce seeds, it can only be increased by cuttings. Even in Okinawa, production has been declining in recent years, and its rarity is increasing. Since ancient times, indigo dyeing has been performed in Amami using indigo that grows naturally in the mountains. They are “weak alkaline simple hot springs” that are generally suitable for anyone. Every cottage is different, so guests can choose one that best suits them.

Kurokawa Onsen Gosyo Gekkoujyu is a vast 13,000 m² forest complex housing only eight guest cottages, each of which offers beautiful views of the night sky above this little hot spring town. The hotel was built with the goal of allowing guests to gaze upon the moon in the middle of the forest, losing track of time to fully experience the splendor of nature. The second kanji in the name “Ikkoten” (一壷天) means “pot” or “vase” and refers to a passage from the Book of the Later Han about finding pleasures from another world inside such a container.
This is the perfect place to take it slowly and forget about the hustle and bustle of city life. In the future, I would be happy if I could expand the range of my works and expressions by having writers utilize Ryukyu Ai, and while increasing the value of Ryukyu Ai, I hope that it will lead to income for each. In addition, I would like to be able to circulate and develop the region centered on indigo dyeing. Unfortunately, Mr. Yoshikawa died two years ago, and the technology has not been inherited.

In Amami, indigo dyeing seems to have been popular from the end of the Edo period to the beginning of the Meiji era. In Kakeromajima , there is a description that indigo leaves are harvested around August of the lunar calendar, soaked in water for about 2 days, pulled up, and then mixed with baked coral to make dye. At one point, Rika witnesses a pile of “medicinal herbs called weeds” that are piled up by mowing several times a year. From that time on, I took over the fact that I couldn’t stand being thrown away as it was, and I began to enjoy using it for herbal teas and bath herbs. Gradually, I began to wonder if I could create something that made me feel more like an island. Until then, Rika had worked for a music-related company in Tokyo for many years.
On clear nights, you can also witness the awe-inspiring star-studded sky stretching out above you. The above picture shows the Superior Twin Room with Open-Air Bath. Located along a river, it gives guests a chance to take a relaxing dip while enjoying the beauty of nature and listening to the pleasant sounds of the neighboring brook. Inside the hotel, you will find nothing but pure Japanese bliss and elegance. The first picture above shows the Moegi, a Japanese-style maisonette, while the second picture shows the Shinshu room. Each cottage is different, sure to satisfy any and all tastes.
