Those looking for tranquility also go to Beitou for a hot spring soak, or to nearby Yangmingshan National Park for a green escape. Night Markets – I only had time to visit Raohe and Shilin. Both are very popular and have a great range of eats and goods. No regrets spending time at either of these night markets. Shilin probably has a slightly wider range of eats. As other people have mentioned, follow the crowd because there are differences when both stalls sell the same thing and one has no customers.
The school marked the beginning of general education curricula in Taiwan and is today Taiwan’s oldest institution of higher learning. We eat in the same restaurant as last night but are wiser about the menu and quantities and eat much better. We make our way back towards our home territory stopping at the National Palace Museum. This museum has a permanent collection of nearly 700,000 pieces of ancient Chinese imperial artifacts and artworks. It’s one of the largest of its type in the world. Some have said that its common to find locals that speak english, enough to hold a conversation anyway and some say its a rarity to come accorss an english speaking local. Yeah, not so much the fast food option I was considering, was more places where, if needed, we can get a quality plain western meal, like a steakhouse or something. But of course in Taipei, there's no shortage of Starbucks coffees and fast food outlets. Taipei has many western style restaurants but you'll find some of it has been changed to local tastes. Whilst I am quite broad in my tastes, my daughter is not so much and am a little concerned about how she will go with different foods.
