I couldn’t detect any difference between the sides of the dual head head design on the Crusader but I can definitely feel a difference with the Emperor. The smooth safety bar gives me a smoother-feeling shave with less blade feel, while I get noticeably more blade feel using the scalloped side, given the same adjustment setting. However I couldn’t tell any actual difference in the amount of stubble reduction from either side–it’s more of a feedback kind of thing to me. I have found that the Weishi’s head may clog a bit when used with a thick lather. And the razor’s long-term durability is a concern to me…time will tell. But my shaves with the Weishi have been very good–about equal that of the other adjustable razors I use regularly that cost much more.
More environmentally friendly.Razors and blades are generally entirely metal, with little-or-no plastic content to clog landfills. While it is certainly no heavyweight razor the weight and balance is adequate. There is a fairly generous “sweet spot” for getting the optimum angle for your preferred shave. I agree the Parker 24/26 are excellent razors but I think the Merkur mentioned in the article is milder. IMO the old Gillette Tech and Long Comb / Short Comb New Razors are relatively mild but efficient razors and readily available at good prices on both Ebay and Etsy.
