Try theGaya Hotelif you’re looking for an upscale stay with a dreamy rooftop pool. The Sheratonis another luxe option, and the Taitung Night Market is right on its doorstep. If you’re still looking for other cool Taitung tourist spots, here are a few more. The shop dates back to 1934, and people literally queue up to buy these soft, chewy balls of goodness.
Plan to spend at least three days on the island so that you can soak up the vibes, do some snorkeling or diving, and see all of the island’s iconic sights. While Taitung City serves as the main gateway to 最強伴手禮 beautiful Taitung County, you should know that the city itself is quite boring. There are several unique places within the city’s borders, but most of Taitung’s best attractions are along Route 9 and 11.

Newly-opened restaurant that serves good authentic Italian-style dishes and very good coffee. About 20 minutes walk from rail station and minutes walk from center of Taidong. Serious cyclist or even moderately serious cyclist will find Taitung a perfect place for cycling. The Taiwanese cyclist already know this and you will find no shortage of them. For anything longer than a casual ride around the city you will need to bring your own bike which is fairly easy thanks to the train. The coastal highway heading North to Hualien is quite popular and has many places for camping and many homestays along the way.
This re-purposed space now hosts many permanent art exhibits and performers, as well as a tourist shop selling souvenirs for visitors. The difficulty of travelling to this hinterland of Taiwan has turned Taitung into a reclusive haven, like a lonely island within an island nation. Trains run along the seacoast, with the high mountains on one side and the vast ocean on another providing the most intoxicating scenery on this part of the round-the-island railway. In the Taimali and Jinlun river basins you’ll also find a number of hot springs.
Taitung is situated on a small plain between the mountains and the ocean at the southern mouth of the East Rift Valley. This provides Taitung with not only spectacular scenery but also an ocean breeze that makes this tropical city surprisingly comfortable. Taitung was developed by the Japanese in the early part of the 20th Century and were responsible for both the construction the road and railroad to the area.

They serve an assortment of sweet treats and Taiwanese dishes, but we say, go straight for the desserts. I’ve been living in Taiwan since 2000, so basically I’ve spent half my life here. I have a big passion for everything Formosa and I’ve been working on this website since 2008 to share the beauty of Taiwan with the world! This resort is on the higher end of the financial spectrum, but lavish travelers to Taidong will be more than comfortable here. It offers facilities that cheaper options won’t, such as a swimming pool, arcade, gym, sauna, etc. A bit like those creepy theme restaurants in Western countries, IWAWNA takes the marketability of aboriginal culture to its limits.
Taitung Seashore Park and the attached Taitung Forest Park are extremely popular with both locals and tourist alike. There are bicycles for rent at several places along the beach and at the entrance of the Forest Park. Unless you have local resources , I highly recommend joining these tours on the East Coast for efficiency’s sake.

Though small, their seating area set against a pretty backdrop of dried flower sprigs, starfish, and artificial roses will make you feel right at home. Green Island 綠島 is a small island that’s 33km to the east of Taiwan, in the Pacific Ocean. This little Taiwanese paradise offers world-class scuba diving and snorkeling, decent hiking, cycling, swimming, and lots of seafood restaurants. A wide-open park area with lush scenery, this park doubles as an extension of the Museum of Prehistory. It was one of the archaeological sites excavated in the original discovery, with artifacts on display for those curious about the people who lived here thousands of years ago. Drone view of Taitung CityBeing one of the southernmost cities in Taiwan, Taitung is at about the same latitude as Hong Kong or Honolulu.
SourceOld buildings from the railway company were turned into an art space where artists can exhibit their art and get a space to work. The exhibitions change regularly and a walking track has been built outside. Taitung is quite spread out, and unlike other cities in Taiwan, themain area is actually not located near the train station. Since the train station is a little outside town, it’s not the most convenient place to stay.
