"Objective Tinnitus," is diagnosed when a clinician (or someone other than the sufferer) can hear the noise being generated by the ear. This is a fairly rare condition, caused by a more-easily identifiable source that usually can be remedied.

The sounds can be described as a ringing in one or both ears, but also has been describes as buzzing, chirping, whistling, whooshing, roaring, ticking, clicking or a humming noise. The sounds can be constant or can vary in volume, type and intensity.

Injury from Loud Noises
Medicine induced (aspirin)
Other Chemicals and Chemical Imbalances
Fluid Buildup

Prevention of noise-induced tinnitus can be prevented by the use of appropriate hearing protection (ear plugs, etc.).

While obvious physical causes, such as a blow to the head or trauma to the ear can result in tinnitus, some studies have shown that the person's awareness to the level of his or her tinnitus can be stress-related. Long-term stress-reduction treatments show strong promise in the treatment subjective tinnitus.

While the vast majority of tinnitus sufferers present as subjective, regular medical treatments vary in their effectiveness. But take heart, as many natural and alternative treatments are available today that are proven to reduce or eliminate the irritating and sometimes life-interrupting sounds plaguing today's tinnitus sufferer.
