On March 7th 2011 two women were jogging in a secured gated community in Thurston, Washington when one got separated and was attacked by a man. The man grabbed her and threw her to the ground however she fought the suspect and got back on her feet and started to flee. The stranger then pursued her but she managed to escape. joggers women

Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident neither are assaults on joggers restricted to women. On March17 in Medford, Massachusetts four men attacked a male jogger as he was running past them. The men stabbed the jogger for no apparent reason. The police called this a random act of violence, random or not attacking joggers is quickly becoming a national pastime. Thousands of joggers are assaulted each year and many more are harassed by idiots who have nothing else to do.

Regrettably the old safeguards, only jog in daylight hours and never jog alone have no bearing in our violent society today. Joggers are assaulted at night and in the daytime, unescorted or running with a partner. In central Park in New York City joggers have been assaulted, robbed and raped in broad daylight with hundreds of people strolling through the park. The super aggressive violent criminals we see in our time have the attitude catch me if you can.

So, how can joggers get protection and get back that measure of security lost by so many honest citizens. Obviously it is not from the various local state and governmental law enforcement agencies. Let's face it you have a better chance of being struck by lightning then having a police officer arriving on the scene while you are being attacked. I am not discrediting diligent police officers, there are just not enough to be at every crime scene in progress.

The answer is for joggers to arm themselves, in case they are attacked. Self defense manufacturers have in traduced new non lethal defensive weapons that are ideal for joggers. Two of the best for joggers are the Double Trouble Stun Gun and the Knuckle Blaster Stun Gun. The Double Trouble Stun Gun is only 6 inches long and weighs 6.9 ounces it is a favorite for women joggers. Many carry it in their hands it looks like a small hand weights. Many men joggers prefer the Knuckle Blaster it fits around the knuckles and can be carried just like a hand weight. In either case now joggers can have a measure of protection when the run these dangerous American streets.
