Robots That Vacuum and Mop
Robots that vacuum and mop offer the convenience of cleaning both dry debris (dust dirt) and wet mess (spills, stains) in one go without the need to change devices. They also can save space when compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot will provide excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models that can automatically empty their bin and fill up their water tank, and machine-wash their mopping pads with a dedicated dock.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It's among the easiest robots to set up that we've ever tested. Unpacking is simple and the quick-start guide gets you running in no time with an entire dust bag, water tank and a hard floor solution.
The S1 Pro is a powerful little machine that cleans up a mess and is a great vacuum cleaner too. The mops spin at fast speeds and apply 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, making short work of dirt, pet hair and dried sticky spills. The vacuum cleaner has four power settings, a range of attachments and brushes and an intuitive app which lets you choose the kind of cleaning you want for each room.
For example, you can decide to let the robot take care of a thorough clean-up in the living and kitchen areas but take it easy in the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro's front collision sensors and smart navigation tech are also excellent, with the robot being capable of detecting small obstacles that other models have difficulty overcoming. Its only issue is that it tends to crash into objects and walls at full speed. However looking at the cleaning history on the app will tell you exactly what the robot has accomplished, where it's traveling, and what obstacles it has encountered or avoided.
A convenient LCD screen on the docking station tells the maintenance tasks that must be completed like emptying the debris tray, and rinsing its dirty water tank. It is also able to mix detergent into the tank automatically by using a 600ml eufy solution.
Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum come with a long-running time. The mop is able to run for 184 mins in Quiet Mode. The vacuum can last for 136 minutes in normal mode, before needing to recharge or returning back to the base. You can also view the full cleaning details in the app, which is well laid out and is easy to comprehend however we would have liked to be able to differentiate between a vacuum and mop clean, when examining a cleaned area in the history of cleaning.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the most recent version of the company's flagship robot mop and vacuum. The model this year has an agitator that doubles as its mopping pad. This improves the carpet cleaning capabilities of this model. The S8 Pro Ultra also has an improved suction capacity, allowing it to pull up small hairs and other particles that other robotic cleaners might be unable to pick up.
The Roborock model, like the other two I tried, has infrared and reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology to help it avoid obstacles such as walls, furniture, and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and incorporates dual cameras that can detect objects, determining whether they are walls or other surfaces. It will then automatically alter its direction and clean them without skipping a beat.
This is the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed however, it's also the most packed with features. Its sleek, angular design is striking and comes with three buttons that are physically accessible. The power button, which also restarts the cleaning process mop function, a button for cleaning that doubles as a child-lock, and a home-button to take the robot to its dock. Lifting the hinged lid, you will find a 350ml dust bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank will empty itself and the bin auto-refilling.
The only issue I have discovered with this model was that its VibraRise mop pad mount is not removable. While you can replace the mopping cloth (if necessary), it's a pain to remove the mount to wash it manually. I've observed that any carpet that the robot crosses will be in contact with the rough Velcro like fastener on mount, which can cause scratches.
The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart capabilities that include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can configure and manage these using the Roborock app which is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app also allows you to schedule cleanings, monitor the battery life and maintain your components. You'll need to jump through a series of steps to activate voice control on this model. It's a shame considering how well-performing it is otherwise.
3. Dreame X40
The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot vacuum and mop with incredible suction power, sophisticated mowing capabilities, and ingenuity features. Its innovative design lets you to customize and efficiently clean while saving time.
The X40 is the first robot vacuum cleaner to deliver 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which easily makes it one of the best options available. This powerful vacuum removes dry debris, including pet hair and crumbs. It comes with a mop that is high quality that cleans hard floors without the use of a pad. The X40 is also extremely quiet in operation with only occasional bursts during modes changes or self-maintenance.
The X40 also comes with a side brush that is able to be lifted and extended. This allows it to reach into corners that are hard to reach and clean furniture with curved edges like table and chair legs. It also allows the robot to reach under furniture with a low profile which makes it a great choice for small apartments and condos with limited space. The side brush automatically tilts down when it detects wet spots. This is a great feature that helps the X40 to avoid causing damage to floors through excessive back-and forth movements.
Contrary to other robots which only focus on one thing, the X40 can do mopping and vacuuming simultaneously or in a series. It can be programmed to only mop the hard floors and skip carpeted areas, or reverse the process. It can be controlled using the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure smooth voice-controlled operations.
The app is simple and easy to use and the X40's clever features are a breeze to install. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, alter suction power and mode, view floor plans and mapping and manage mopping settings. The X40 can also monitor its progress and notify you when it's done.
The X40 is easy-to-maintain and offers numerous convenient features, making it a great choice for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the trash bin into a 3.2 L bin, washes the mop pads, and refills them with fresh water and cleaning solution. It can also tell when the mop pad is full and notify you when it overflows, thus reducing the necessity for manual maintenance.
4. L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models available. It has several characteristics that make it stand out. The mops are equipped with a new feature called Smart DuoScrub that uses two high-speed mops to scrub floors more thoroughly than the standard method, and it comes with an impressive suction power of 7,000Pa. This is significantly higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni and can remove pet hair and small dirt particles - and also pick up spills and wet spots.
The mops are cleaned and dried at the base station every time they are used. This is a great feature because it prevents mould and unpleasant odours from accumulating in storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robot mop and vacuum models. It could be a great method to keep your home clean longer.
There's a plethora of settings available that include the possibility to schedule cleaning appointments and adjust a variety of preferences. The app allows you to make these settings or make use of the buttons on the device itself. The app is easy to use and has many options for customizing your cleaning routine.
affordable robot vacuum offers several functions that are not available on other robots, such as the Clean Genius Mode, which automatically increases suction whenever it detects dust particles.
The L20 Ultra is also one of the most elegant robots we've seen on market, with metallic and white colors that looks elegant and classy. It's a little heavier than some of the other two-in-one robots on this list, at 4kg however it's not overly heavy, and it is sturdy and well-built. The mopping system is well designed and the double-rotating mop is a great choice for hard floors or in corners. The MopExtend feature lets them extend up to 2mm below the baseboards.
