The Best Double Buggy Strollers

If you're expecting twins or have two young children of different ages then a double buggy can help you out and about. The best ones are simple to maneuver and can deal with rough surfaces and kerbs.

These vehicles also come with features such as large sun canopies and transparent hoods, and adjustable seats.

1. Baby Jogger City Tour Double

The City Tour 2 Double is the smallest double stroller within the Baby Jogger range. It is designed to travel and fits through doors that are standard with its ultra-narrow shape. It's also among the lightest double buggies available with a weight of just 14lbs when folded. This makes it ideal for traveling with a newborn and a toddler since you won't exceed the allowances for luggage on airlines. It also folds up to the size of a bag for travel so that you can put it away in the back of your car when it's not in use.

It's simple to fold the Z-shape with one hand. Once you're used to it, it's small and takes only a few minutes. However, our tester found the auto lock to be a bit confusing. Also, since the handlebar isn't locked into place when you press it, it hit her legs when she was using it. She also felt that the handlebar was a little shorter than she would like particularly with a large changing bag hanging from it.

Unlike other lightweight travel buggies it doesn't sacrifice features. It's one of the most feature-packed double strollers available. It's compatible with two carry cots (available separately), features multiple recline positions as well as a UV 50+ canopy. You can also add an additional bassinet to one or both seats to transform it into a travel system.

The four rubber composite tires are great for pavements as well as urban terrain. However, they were not designed for off-roading. They had trouble with gravel and long grass and there was not enough clearance between the wheel bracket and wheel which meant that mud could get stuck easily. However, our tester still loved riding this buggy, and it did manage to climb some beautiful dirt hills.

2. iCandy Orange

The iCandy Orange is a premium double buggy that is a top choice in style and versatility. It is a must-have item for parents who want a chic high-end double buggy that lasts. The Orange is a stunning, lightweight, streamlined chassis that has a massive basket that easily fits two car seats. The seats are very comfortable and feature a moulded look. The seats are also adjustable and can be set to meet the needs of siblings. iCandy have created the first ever "cinema" seating design enabling parents to maintain eye contact with their children. They can also be moved to face either the parent or the world facing.

It's a heavier tandem buggy but it's very easy to use and steer, especially on smooth pavements. It is stable in single and double mode, and also on sloped terrain. It's not as easy to drive on public transport, however, as it requires more than one hand to grip the handlebar. It's also heavy and will not fit into the standard car boot with the seat attached, but this can be overcome by careful planning. iCandy includes the footmuff and changing bag with the price, so this is a great value package for new parents.

This is a tandem stroller which is extremely light. It has two non-reversible seats that are ideal for infants to about 3 years old, and it can accommodate a car seat in the rear.

Its sleek frame and small dimensions make it perfect for shopping malls and narrow city streets. The swivel wheels on the front and four-wheel suspension allow it to maneuver over uneven or slightly rough terrain.

Another great feature is that this buggy is able to accommodate a car seat in the back seat, which makes it ideal for families who plan to travel. It has a one-click secure fold and can be used with a wide range of Joie infant car seats. It also has a large basket and comfortable seats for both kids. The only downside is the front seat isn't able to recline completely, which could be a problem for young babies. It's a great choice if you are seeking a light and inexpensive stroller.

The 360-degree swivel wheel can be locked to allow for easier maneuvering around town. The one-pedal easy lock brake is also easy to use.

Our testers found that the Nipper Double is incredibly easy to navigate, even on rough terrain or when turning on the middle of a busy road. The fact that the seats can be reclined independently was also hugely appreciated.

They also appreciated that the hoods were able to be moved forward and back making them easy to adjust to the sun or for wind protection. They did not offer the same amount of coverage as the Baby Jogger City Mini Hoods. It might be worth packing an extra rain cover in case.

Overall, our testers were impressed by the Nipper double's ability let them take their twin daughters Sydney and Lyla to all sorts of adventures. From spotting wildlife in a forest to rushing to a park to play with their friends, they loved it. They were also amazed by how cosy and spacious the two seats are with plenty of room for growing toddlers to play in.
