Volleyball basically has three stages: receive, set, and spike. Heungkuk Life Insurance Raina.

“The reason we were able to spike is because the toss came up. “The fact that the toss came up means that there was a receive that led to that point.” ─ Japanese volleyball cartoon 'Haikyuu'

In volleyball, a rally basically ends with serve → receive → set (toss) → attack → (blocking, dig...) → score.

And as in all sports, in volleyball, players with good scoring ability tend to receive the most attention.

That's why expressions like '○○○, who scored the most points for both teams', almost always appear in professional volleyball articles.

On the other hand, expressions such as ‘having the most sets’ or ‘receiving the most opponent serves’ are not easy to find.

Considering that the player with the most sets is the setter of both teams anyway, the player with the most opposing serves may be the most underestimated.

Heungkuk Life Insurance’s Raina receiving the opponent’s serve.

After the All-Star Game break ended until the 14th, the player who received the most opponent's serves in the professional volleyball women's division was Jeong Kwan-jang Jia (26, USA, 150).

However, her receiving share is higher for Heungkuk Life Insurance Reina (25, Japan, 54.4%), who received the opponent's serve 142 times (2nd place) than Jia (42.1%).

In the 5th round, Raina was the only player in the women's division who had a receiving share of over 50%, meaning she received more than half of her opponent's serves.

Raina's attack share, which was 14.5% until the 4th round, also increased to 27.7% in the 5th round.

Raina attempted 139 attacks in the four games played in the fifth round.

Willow (26, USA, No. 141) from the same team, who never received the opponent's serve as an offer spiker, only attempted two more attacks than Raina.

Heungkuk Life Insurance alone has two people in the top 7.
Raina's serve-receive share and attack share add up to 82.1%.

In the 5th round, no player in the women's division has recorded a higher combined share than these two.

So, after the All-Star break, Raina is the ‘busiest’ player in the women’s division.

Of course, just because she's busy doesn't mean she's helpful to the team.

Raina recorded an attack efficiency of 0.388 in the 5th round, showing the second best performance after IBK Industrial Bank of Korea Abercrombie (29, USA, 0.416).

A receiving efficiency of 25.3% is hardly a good record, but it is not a big problem.

As you can see in this GIF, even if the receive isn't accurate, it's not a big problem for you to fix it yourself.

When Raina attacked immediately after receiving during this period, the efficiency remained at 0.480.

Among players who attempted attacks more than 15 times in the same situation, only Jia (0.480) had better attack efficiency than Raina.

Raina was a player whose attack efficiency was only 0.300 in the same situation in rounds 1 to 4.

As Raina came back to life like this, the shoulders of ‘Volleyball Empress’ Kim Yeon-kyung (36) became lighter.

In rounds 1 to 4, Kim Yeon-kyung had to take responsibility for attacking once out of six times when she received a reception, but in the fifth round, the burden was reduced to once out of 17 times. 고스톱
