Narwal Freo X Ultra
The Freo X Ultra, a highly-rated and highly-functional Gen 4 robotic vacuum and mop is a high-quality machine. The $1400 price tag may be hard to swallow but it's often available to make it more affordable. The unit looks great, and the base station takes up very little space in the corner of the room.
The design of this robot is a solution to some of the issues we've experienced with other robotic mops and vacuum units, including brushes that get tangled up in hair and the brush not being able enough to reach the flooring underneath furniture. The performance of the sweeper on carpets and floors that are not covered is also impressive. The vacuum/mop system has a high amount of debris removal, and the mop is able to absorb the bare floor quickly.
The mops also employ an intelligent system to clean along the edges of furniture and walls. The robot is able to avoid the bulkier obstacles such as food bowls, toys shoes, and backpacks with any difficulty. It could get caught or get stuck with smaller, flatter objects like shoelaces and USB cables and pen.
This robot was used to mop and vacuum hardwood flooring FLOR carpet tiles, as well as pile rugs in a huge open-plan home. With FREO Mind enabled, it cleaned and mopped the 90m2 area in about 170 minutes that's close to the average for Gen 4.
This robot is distinguished by a variety of features. The Freo X Ultra has a number of software, sensors, and hardware improvements engineered to keep it at the top of its game. It claims 3.5 hours of autonomy for environments up 260m2.
You can alter a variety of functions from the Freo app, including how often the robot comes back to the base station, its mopping frequency and power (silent or smart) and its mopping humidity. The app can detect heavily dirty spots and create a cleaning route. It can also dispensate detergent and raise the carpet pads.
Other noteworthy features include a simple-to-read display on the robot’s underside and the dock door is convenient to open. The Freo X Ultra is the most efficient vacuum and mop for homeowners and apartment owners who want to cut down on their chores while keeping their homes clean and tidy.
Miele Scout RX3
Miele is a name synonymous with quality and innovation in the world of robot vacuuming. This new model aims to take it to the next level, with high-end features and superior cleaning performance.
The RX3 has a dual suction system and intelligent navigation that includes 3D mapping and a camera which transmits live images to your smartphone for simple control. The RX3's powerful four-stage system for cleaning ensures excellent dust removal on carpet and hard flooring, while the intuitive side brushes with a swing-out feature and two suction channels clean in corners. Its 8.5 cm height lets it get under furniture with low levels. Front cameras and infrared sensor aid in navigating barriers, thresholds and obstacles with ease.
In our test of how well it cleaned baking soda close to baseboards and in corners the Scout RX3 was impressive. Its suction of 2,500Pa was weaker than other robots but it was still quiet and swift in its movements. It didn't mop, and its cleaning pad that was removable was difficult to attach. It also wasn't able to take on dirt that had dried up.
The app doesn't have advanced features such as multiple cleaning modes or automated scheduling. It does work with Alexa however, its voice controls aren't precise or responsive. It's also a little erratic when it returns to the charging station following the course. Other robots can follow a wall or trace an earlier route however, the RX3 is a mess until it quits.
We also experienced issues with the smart features of the device, such as its mapping feature as well as digital stay-out zones. It was good at keeping our shoes and furniture legs away, but it was easily caught on cables, socks, and rugs. That's why we chose not to include it in our Best Buy list. Still, with a decent price and a dazzling performance The Scout RX3 is worth considering when you're looking for a smarter alternative to traditional uprights.
