The Best Robot Vacuum That Mops
Noah Pinsonnault is a product review analyst for the Home Care and Cleaning Lab at Good Housekeeping.
He evaluates and tests cleaning equipment, focusing on mopping and robot vacuum combos. Multitaskers can be ideal for those who are looking to remove mopping from their to-do lists. They feature impressive mapping and obstacle avoidance capabilities, and some wash and refill their mopping pads for a hands-off clean.
The Eufy S1 Pro
If you're looking to buy a robot vacuum that also mop, this is the model you should go for. It's smaller than other models which makes it easier to maneuver into tight corners or under furniture. It has a 220-degree lidar which, when paired with its 3D Matrix camera system gives it some of the most effective navigation and object avoidance that I've ever seen in a robotic vacuum. It has a hefty 4600mAh battery which lasts up to 170-minutes when mopping and suction are set to standard mode (it can last longer in turbo).
robot hoover can even return to the dock to replenish its battery midway through cleaning.
It's fast and does a fantastic job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It vacuums carpeted rooms extremely quickly and the hardwood floors in the living room, and hallways in a single pass. Its 8,000pa suction motor makes short work of picking up dirt, droppings and pet hair. Carpet detection boosts power automatically when it comes into contact with rugs, and the two side brushes help to tease away debris from corners.
The mopping efficiency, while still impressive, is not as effective. The mop rotates at a high speed and it pushes down with 2.2lbs of force, easily scraping away dirt and stains. I've noticed that the front arm sticks out a little more than other robots. This is helpful when getting into tight corners or along baseboards. The same front arms can also be used to pick up larger pieces of debris, like broken toys and books.
Another nice feature is that the S1 Pro is one of the quietest robot vacuums and mop I've ever used. It is quieter and doesn't create as much noise when vacuuming or mopping. The only downside is that the S1 Pro must use a specific cleaning solution to perform its mopping function and is separate from the vacuum. It is easy to install and performs well. However should you purchase this vacuum solely for mopping purposes it is important to pay attention to this.
The Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo is different from other robot vacuums in its class. It is equipped with a broad array of features that make it a great choice for homeowners who want an extremely efficient, flexible, and customizable cleaning machine.
The device has an extremely powerful and impressive cleaning system that integrates LiDAR sensors and an RGB camera to map your home and detect furniture and other obstacles. It then uses this information to clean efficiently and effectively. This will ensure a thorough and consistent clean, while also being relatively fast.
The Q Revo DuoRoller mop pad can reach many surfaces. This includes baseboards, corners and other difficult to reach areas. They also come with a stretchy side brush that can extend to reach the floor near walls and other fixtures. The mop pads are washable and dry to remove odors and prevent buildup.
App-based customization is yet another noteworthy feature. The Q Revo allows you to adjust the suction level and select a back-and forth or slightly random pattern. You can also alter the number of passes it must make, which will determine how quickly the device can move through your home. You can also choose to disable the side brush to prevent damaging rugs and carpets.
The device comes with a high price tag but comes with a large selection of advanced features. It is important to remember that the device is subject to regular expenses, such as mopping equipment and regular maintenance. For instance the brushroll needs to be replaced after 300 hours or every six to twelve months. The filter will need to be cleaned after 150 hours and the mop pad should be replaced every three to six months.
The robot vacuum that mops has a high rating on Amazon and comes with a wide range of physical automation features. It has a power button that can also function as a general 'Clean' button and a 'Home' button that will send it back to its base station after finishing its cleaning session. It also has a multi-functional dock that automatically emptys the dustbin, refills its water tank to mop and washes and dry its mop pads.
The Shark Matrix Plus
The Shark Matrix Plus will be the ideal choice for busy professionals or anyone who wants to keep their home tidy without spending too much time doing chores. Its powerful performance, smart navigation, and long battery life make it simple to keep a clean home with minimal effort.
The Matrix Plus is a 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop, that is, it can do mopping and vacuuming. The robot comes with two modules: a dry bin and water reservoir and a separate mopping system with microfiber pads that snap in and out of place. It's a little old-fashioned to have separate modules for vacuuming and mopping however it does mean you don't have to fret about changing the bags for disposables or refilling the tank of water.
The Matrix Plus performed well at vacuuming and mopping. Its greatest feature is its precise floorplan map, which it utilizes when cleaning. This made it easy for the Matrix Plus to navigate around furniture, rugs and other obstacles. The app also gives you the option of setting "No-Go zones" and virtual barriers that help to protect specific areas of your home from being swept with mop.
We also discovered that the Matrix Plus did surprisingly well at picking up pet hair. It was able to collect the majority of hair our cats shed, and even found its way into the nooks and crannys of our stairs which other robots struggled. Its noise levels were fairly low and there were nice jingles to let you know that it was in the process of finishing its work.
Its biggest drawbacks were its lack of sophistication and the necessity to switch between the modules to switch between vacuuming and mopping. The app can't store multiple maps, which can be a hassle if you have a home with a mix of floors. The Matrix Plus is a good option for those who want an intelligent robot that can perform both vacuuming and mopping.
The Yiko X1 Omni
The X1 Omni robot vacuum is the most expensive of our review. However, it has distinct features that make it worth considering. The X1 Omni's biggest draw is its huge dock that serves as the robot's charging base and housing for two 4-liter water tanks, a sink for cleaning and an automatic 2.5-liter dust bin that automatically eliminates.
The base has a few control buttons that let you manually begin a cleaning task or recall the robot, or run the dock's automatic emptying procedure. Press two buttons to switch off the child lock. This is a great feature for parents who are worried about their children messing around with the vacuum.
The X1 Omni like other robotic vacuums, utilizes its camera to detect obstacles and furniture that are in its path. It will steer clear of them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.
This can cause the X1 to become stuck when it gets entangled in an obstacle like a power cable tangled over a rug. It won't work until you manually untangle it. While this was rare however, it was a gruelling experience when it did happen, especially since the X1 Omni does not come with an "stuck" status alert on its application.
The X1 Omni isn't able to automatically switch between mopping and vacuuming mode during cleaning. You will have to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't too bad but the mopping pad doesn't get cleaned or dried between use. This can cause mildew and mold.
The X1 Omni looks great, thanks to the Jacob Jensen design team (of Bang & Olufsen fame), who created its sleek, modern base and mopping pad. It's a significant contrast to the basic black bases of rivals like Roborock or iRobot. And it's a welcome sight for a market dominated by clunky boxes.
