World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to an item are a way to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type, it may boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity and boost additional stats.

Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specified amount.

Item Level

When an item gets upgraded, its basic stats improve in value. This value is the total of all its leveled up advantages (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades can be expensive, dependent on who you employ and what you decide to do. This is due to the fact that many perks have to be replaced to allow the item to be upgraded.

It is also used as a gating requirement when queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It also serves to limit the amount of PvP gear players are able to wear, since PvP is limited at lower levels. Players can view their average level of items on their character sheet.

When deciding whether to buy or sell equipment players can evaluate the level of an item. It's a good gauge of an item's worth and the amount of damage it's capable of causing. The item level can also be used to compare items when looking at the inventory of a seller.

On PC, you are able to view the item level by pressing ALT or using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the item's full description, including ilvl. It can also be located by hovering an item with the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are several theories about how the calculation of an item's level is done. One theory states that the item level is calculated by formulas that determine the worth of an item's stats really are. It considers the fact that various perks have different value, and also that gems in sockets add to the overall value of the item. This could result in an item's ilvl which is calculated and is typically very close to Blizzard's real item level.

This is not the only thing that affects the level of an item. The degree of the area in which the item was dropped may alter its stats. For example, it could increase the item's haste, or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have more value than items dropped in lower-level instances.

Item Stats

The stats of an item can make or break an item for players. The game utilizes them in many ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to one weapon, and to encourage them to try out other weapons. The stat modifications of an weapon increase the base stats. These stat mods are then enhanced by the player's level.

Item upgrades add to that by increasing certain stats on the item. The cost of upgrades is determined by the rarity of the item. A grey or white item for instance, can only be upgraded one time, while an item with rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times with higher costs.

Affixes are another way to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. Affixes can be used to give the item additional damage, or add a unique ability to the item (such as reviving the dead or reducing cooldowns) or make the item unique by giving a special name to the item.

All affixes can be being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button. It will cost a set amount in gold and items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges just like the other methods of rerolling.

Players can choose to upgrade an item by specific stats, or reroll the affixes. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However each item will have at least one stat in that range unless they are an item that is unique, or a God Roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could be changed is the option to upgrade equipment without having to reroll the attachments, or pick which stats to enhance. Like base equipment, it must be done per item and the item comparison interface wouldn't display all possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player increases the likelihood of locating items as well as the properties spawned by loot and the strength of these properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade item s. It provides players with the chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game. This is more beneficial in the early game, since players tend to prioritize weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.

Luck can also increase the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading that increases with each level of the item and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, shields, and armor can be made or spawn with the Luck property, with the default value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to give +40 Luck or to increase the existing Luck of an item up to 140.

Additionally there are certain items, like the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow can be used to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items can be bought from the shop or crafted using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items are expensive and not every upgrade will be successful. However, there are some cash shop items that allow players to boost their chances of success or even prevent them from losing an item if the upgrade is unsuccessful.

When you upgrade an item, the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading the item, and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The percentage of success can only be increased by so high, and the probability that the upgrade will fail cannot be greater than 100%..

The Luck of an item can influence the success of an upgrade. All items have an overall success rate of 25%, and each item that has Luck increases this chance by 5percent.

Note that item upgrade s are rendered above the items in the inventory which means that enchantment glints and other effects may be masked by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
