NC, mired in 4 consecutive losses, falls to 4th place, Suwon-Incheon games canceled due to rain

Professional baseball's LG Twins have won four games in a row and risen to third place.

LG achieved a 6-3 come-from-behind win against the NC Dinos in the 2024 Shinhan Solbank KBO League held at Jamsil Stadium on the 26th.

LG, which had a 4-game winning streak, including sweeping the 3-game series against NC this weekend, jumped to 3rd place (29 wins, 2 draws, 23 losses). It has been 749 days since May 6-8, 2022, that LG achieved a sweep win over NC.

On the other hand, 5th place NC (27 wins, 1 draw, 23 losses) fell into a quagmire of 4 consecutive losses.

LG starter Casey Kelly pitched 6 innings, allowing 5 hits, 1 strikeout, and 3 runs, and earned his second win (6th loss) of the season. The starting win against NC was 614 days since the Jamsil game on September 30, 2022.

In the LG batting lineup, second hitter Park Hae-min was responsible for 2 hits in 4 at-bats, 3 RBIs, and 2 runs.

NC starting pitcher Daniel Castano, who appeared on the mound 12 days after recovering from an elbow injury, was unable to withstand the opponent's heavy hitting and collapsed with 5 hits, 3 walks, 3 strikeouts, 6 runs, and 4 earned runs in 4⅓ innings. They could not avoid their third loss (3 wins) of the season. While the rain that started before the game continued, Kelly and Castano pitched scoreless pitches together until the third inning. However, after the batting order rotated once, batters from both teams began attacking the mound. First, NC batters scored 3 points on Kelly in the top of the 4th inning. With no outs on 1st and 3rd base on back-to-back hits by leaders Seo Ho-cheol and Park Geon-woo, Matt Davidson scored the first run with a sacrifice fly to left field. With Kelly's wild pitch followed by an error by the opposing center fielder, Kim Seong-wook and Kim Joo-won hit timely hits in succession at third base with two outs. LG launched a counterattack immediately in the bottom of the fourth inning. Hong Chang-gi and Park Hae-min connected with a hit and no outs. When Castano's check on first base was missed at first and second base, second base runner Hong Chang-gi jumped into the home run to make up for one run. With one out and runners on third base, Austin Dean scored one more point with a sacrifice fly to left field. Unlike NC, which failed to score an additional point from Kelly, LG scored 4 more points in the 5th inning and turned the game around. After one out, Koo Bon-hyuk got on base with a surprise bunt hit, and then Heo Do-hwan connected the batting line with a single to left. Hong Chang-gi picked a walk and filled the bases. Park Hae-min, who appeared with bases loaded and 1 out, hit Castano's slider on the first pitch and hit a 3-run, 3-run triple that cut the runner to left-center. LG, who led the trend, made 1st and 3rd bases with 1 out and a ball that hit Kim Hyun-soo's body. Austin completely set the tone by hitting a timely double off pitcher Kim Jae-yeol, who had been replaced. LG, ahead 6-3, activated its bullpen starting in the 7th inning, and Kim Jin-seong, Park Myung-geun, and Yoo Young-chan kept the remaining 3 innings scoreless and maintained the victory. KIA Tigers won 5-2 in the game against Doosan Bears held at Kia Champions Field in Gwangju. Leading KIA (31 wins, 1 draw, 20 losses), which achieved two consecutive wins, extended its lead over second place Doosan to two games. At the same time, the three-game series over the weekend was decorated as a winning series. Doosan, who suffered two consecutive losses, has a season record of 30 wins, 2 draws, and 23 losses. KIA starting pitcher James Nail pitched well in 6 innings, allowing 3 hits, 3 walks, 6 strikeouts, and 1 run, achieving his 6th win (1 loss) of the season. KIA's main hitters Na Seong-beom and Choi Hyeong-woo, and first hitter Park Chan-ho both hit home runs, leading the team to victory. Doosan's returning ace collapsed. Raul Alcantara, who appeared on the mound for the first team in 35 days, suffered his second loss (1 win) of the season as he gave up 4 hits (3 home runs), 4 walks, and 5 runs in 3⅓ innings. KIA succeeded in taking the lead. With one out in the bottom of the first inning, Kim Do-young got on base with a ball that hit his body, and then Na Seong-beom hit a two-run home run. Then, follow-up hitter Choi Hyeong-woo hit a breaking ball from starter Alcantara and hit a one-run home run. KIA, ahead 3-0, scored an additional point in the bottom of the second inning. After leadoff hitter Han Jun-su got a walk, Park Chan-ho attacked Alcantara's fastball and drew a two-run arch that went over the left wall. Doosan, who had been tied down by Nail's good pitching, broke the silence in the top of the 6th inning. With one out, Jeong Soo-bin hit a hit that landed next to the left fielder, and stepped on second base when Jeon Min-jae's pitcher grounded out. With 2 outs and runners on second base, Kang Seung-ho hit a 1-run double. Doosan, which was trailing 1-5, began chasing again in the top of the 9th inning with two outs, Yang Seok-hwan hitting a double, and Kim Jae-hwan hitting an RBI single to right-center. Henry Ramos then hit a hit against KIA closing pitcher Jeong Hae-young, who was pitching in relief, but Hong Seong-ho struck out on a missed swing and ended up hanging his head. The Lotte Giants won 9-1 in the game against the Samsung Lions held at Sajik Stadium in Busan. With the win on this day, 9th place Lotte (20 wins, 2 draws, 28 losses) won two games in a row and decorated the three-game weekend as a winning series. On the other hand, Samsung (28 wins, 1 draw, 23 losses), mired in two consecutive losses, fell to 4th place. Lotte starting pitcher Charlie Barnes voluntarily resigned after feeling pain in his left thigh adductor muscle while pitching in the second inning. Despite the sudden absence of a foreign ace, Lotte's bullpen combined for 7 ⅓ innings of scoreless innings, leading the team to victory. In the batting lineup, foreign hitter Victor Reyes led the attack, swinging a bat with 4 hits and 5 RBIs in 4 at-bats. Samsung's native ace Won Tae-in suffered his third loss (5 wins) of the season as he performed poorly, allowing 10 hits and 5 runs in 5⅔ innings. Lotte, who traded 1 point each with Samsung in the first inning, took the lead in the bottom of the 3rd inning. With two outs and no runners on base, Yoon Dong-hee's single to left and Ko Seung-min's walk put the team on first and second base, and Reyes exploded with a two-run double. Lotte widened the gap by completing a big inning in the bottom of the 6th inning. With 2 outs and runners on first base, Hak-ju Lee hit a triple with 1 RBI, and taking advantage of a catching error by the opposing center fielder, Hak-ju Lee also rushed home and scored. He then took advantage of Hwang Seong-bin's left-handed hit and Yoon Dong-hee's walk, and then added two runs thanks to consecutive hits by Ko Seung-min and Reyes.  스포츠토토맨
