Lee Sang-yeon (Suwon City Hall) set a new Korean record in the men's 73kg weightlifting clean and jerk.

Lee Sang-yeon lifted 196kg in the third round of clean and jerk in the men's 73kg competition at the 2nd Korea Weightlifting Federation President's Cup National Weightlifting Competition held at Yongha Gymnasium in Yanggu, Gangwon-do on the 14th.

It is a new Korean record, exceeding the Korean standard record by 1kg.

The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) created a new weight class system and announced world standard records starting from the World Weightlifting Championships held in November 2018.

The Korea Weightlifting Federation also created a Korean standard record table. The standard record for Korean men's 73 kg clean and jerk was set at 195 kg.

For the next five years, no athlete exceeded the Korean standard record in the men's 73 kg clean and jerk, but Lee Sang-hyun set a new Korean record by exceeding 1 kg.

Lee Sang-yeon, who set a new Korean record for clean and jerk of 182 kg in the men's 67 kg class at the 1st Korea Weightlifting Federation President's Cup last year, became the athlete to hold Korean records in two weight classes simultaneously in Yongsan. On this day, Lee Sang-yeon won with 150 kg in snatch, 196 kg in clean and jerk, and 346 kg in total. 19가이드03
