Scotty Scheffler
Scotty Scheffler (USA), the world's No. 1 men's golf player, missed a 50cm putt and ended his streak of under par for 28 consecutive rounds.
Schaeffler participated in the second round of the second day of the PGA Tour Texas Children's Houston Open (total prize money of $9.1 million) held at Memorial Park Golf Course (par 70, 7,435 yards) in Houston, Texas, on the 30th (Korean time). He hit an even par 70 with 5 birdies, 3 bogeys, and 1 double bogey.
Scheffler, who hit a total of 5 under par 135, tied for 4th place.
Schaeffler took first place at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Players Championship in succession in the past two weeks, and is attempting to win this competition for three consecutive weeks.
It is 4 strokes different from Tony Finau (USA), who is in first place until the second round, with 9 under par 131 strokes.
Finau is the ‘defending champion’ who won this competition in 2022. This competition was not held last year.
Schaeffler recorded a double bogey on the 18th hole (par 4), the last hole of the day, as both a 1.6m par putt and a 50cm bogey putt went around the hole.
Even if he only made a bogey on this hole, he could have stayed under par for 29 consecutive rounds, but lost two strokes in the last hole and stayed at even par.
Under par for 28 consecutive rounds is the most on the PGA Tour since records were first compiled in 1983.
Kim Chan
Alejandro Tosti (Argentina) took second place, two strokes behind Finau.
Kim Si-woo finished the second round with 1-under par 139 strokes, tied for 28th place, and Lee Gyeong-hoon and Kim Seong-hyun finished the second round with even par 140 strokes, tied for 45th place.
Korean player Kim Chan (USA) recorded his first hole-in-one on the PGA Tour with a pitching wedge at the 157-yard 9th hole (par 3).
Chan Kim was tied for 20th place with 2 under par and 138 strokes. 토토
