A flannel shirt or suit is a great choice.

Flannel is one of our top choices for winter clothing.

Flannel fabrics are made of cotton or wool with loose weaves. The technique that gives them their characteristic fuzzy texture is called napping.

These garments can be used in a variety of ways and are versatile enough to allow for almost unlimited combinations. Flannel is a popular fabric for cold seasons because it keeps you warm without compromising on style. The garments are casually elegant thanks to the brushed fabric. It's a simple way to look smart and dressed up without appearing too formal. That's what we all want, right?

These are essential features because we want you to make the most of your flannel clothes.

The benefits of wearing flannel

  • Warming up
  • Comfortable
  • Simple to maintain
  • Multipurpose - There are many areas where versatility is a must
  • Timeless
  • You will look amazing

Flannel clothing can be incorporated into your wardrobe

Start by going through your current wardrobe and identifying the pieces you love and would like to add to it. To make an informed decision about which color or garments you should purchase, identify the colors, textures, pieces, and accessories that you already own.
Always think about how you can get the most out of your wardrobe. You can have a variety of uses with three pieces of flannel. We recommend that you get three pieces of flannel: a pair beige flannel pants, a brown jacket and a classic charcoal or dark grey flannel suit.

Considerations when purchasing your first flannel item (as with all clothing).

  • What occasions can you wear it? You can wear it casually, formally, or both.
  • What flannel colors are flattering on you? Which ones will fit your style? We can help you if you don't know.
  • Flannel can be used in many ways, so make sure to choose pieces that complement your existing wardrobe.

Flannel suits

For centuries, men have worn the flannel suits. It is a wardrobe staple because of its soft, brushed finish. This classic style is traditionally made from heavier fabrics and worn with a tie and dress shirt. It's best to wear it casually and often in separates, which makes it more contemporary and modern. We like to wear it with knitwear and denim, as well as a flannel jacket made from a lighter fabric. We work with top Italian mills that often produce flannel fabrics of a lighter weight than those made in the United States. The fabric of a lighter weight will not only preserve its structure but it will also keep you warm.

Flannel shirts

A crisp flannel shirt is the best choice for when the regular dress shirt isn't enough to keep you warm at work. Light colored flannel should be in earthy tones such as brown or beige, and preferably in light- to medium-weight fabrics (around 220-270gr). When choosing the right color or design for your wardrobe, versatility is important. It's a good idea to keep it simple with a cutaway collar without pockets.

We recommend an off-white or beige flannel shirt, with a more prominent kent collar and 2 western style pockets with snap button buttons. You can see all of our casual shirts right here.

How to wear a flannel-suit

The answer is that it is possible at any time, whatever the weather or occasion. This is almost all of the year in Sweden. The rich texture of flannel suits and their separate pieces can be worn for many occasions.

A Light brown flannel suit can be worn as a complete suit. However, it is not recommended to wear this suit on formal occasions. The jacket and trousers can be easily separated to create a wardrobe staple for any casual outfit. It can be worn with your favorite knitwear, for example. A brown flannel jacket is not too formal, even for casual settings.

It is important to choose the right color for your new garments. You will be able to wear them with many of your other clothes if you look at your color palette and choose a neutral shade that matches the palette. If you are looking for darker colors, consider a charcoal or dark brown flannel. We can't recommend beige flannel highly enough if you prefer lighter colors. Because it's neutral, you can mix and match it with any other garments.

Flannel tailoring: The essentials

You can combine the beige flannel pants with many autumn and winter staples. Drago is an Italian weaving mill that produces the fabric. It is extremely soft and comfortable to wear as a pair or dressed trousers. A lighter shade of beige is a good choice. Although it may seem strange to some, this makes the pants easy to match. You can wear light-colored pants all year. It is a good rule of thumb that the pants should be lighter than your jacket. This is why it is easier to wear lighter trousers with unusual jackets. However, this isn't always true. There are exceptions. Light trousers are great with a brown flannel jacket, and some knitwear in earthy colors. The beige flannel trousers are versatile. You can wear it at home with a cashmere rollneck, or to work with a white shirt, a knitted tie, and a pair black penny loafers.

The brown flannel jacket

An essential item for every man's wardrobe is an odd jacket. Many people choose to go with a blue or grey jacket, but we prefer to show off the brown flannel jacket. The brushed surface is versatile, just like other flannel clothing. It can be used with many garments, and is suitable for all situations. The jacket can be worn with both beige and grey trousers. It is a conscious decision to combine garments in earthy colors with one another. This combination expresses relaxed elegance and is one of our favorites. This jacket can be worn with jeans or chinos and looks great. We recommend that it be double-breasted with pockets. This jacket is elegant and can be worn in casual as well as formal settings. If you like the 2,5 button closure, the jacket can be worn in a variety of settings.

The classic grey flannel suit

The grey flannel suit is a must-have for any discussion of flannel. Our favorite is the charcoal grey.

This fabric comes from Vitale BarberisCanonico in Italy. As previously mentioned, the Italian flannel fabrics are a little lighter than the English. The suit could be worn even longer if the fabric is slightly lighter than the rest.

The dark grey suit can be worn with a dark shirt and tie, in formal settings, or with a cashmere crewneck underneath. It is also light enough to wear with knitted sweaters or jackets. The jacket can also be worn as a separate item. To get the most out of your suit, the shade is well-balanced.

The charcoal flannel suit has stood up to the test of time, and will continue to be a great choice for many years. We love it! It's a timeless classic, but it still feels fresh and relevant when worn with knitwear.
