The i3+ does not have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or any other top-rated robots that we test. It could be stuck on power cords and socks and have trouble moving between different surfaces like carpet and hardwood.

iRobot suggests that you clear areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, and include clearing out any clutter or toys it might encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the bin and filter clean so that they do not become blocked by dirt. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is filled or the battery is depleted it will return to its docking station, automatically empties its debris into the station's dust bin, and then continues cleaning where it started. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for approximately an hour and a half continuous use. It takes around three hours to recharge.

We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning routines, move itself around the room, and even vacuum the area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and easy with the iRobot Home app. After being connected, to give voice commands to the i7+ like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

For example, my living room rug has a darkly colored border that has a tendency to trip up some of the other robots I've tested.
