Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum will keep floors clean enough to reduce the frequency with which you'll need to manually vacuum. Pick a robot vacuum that is well-trained in navigation, can clean stairs and corners, and that has large bins that will need to be emptied periodically.
You can also find models that mop and charge on their own which can be essential for those who have pets or kids. A lot of the top performers in our tests offer decent obstacle-avoiding capabilities.
1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ a good option for those who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience but don't mind having to empty their dust bin manually when it is full.
Both robots are good in removing dirt and dust particles on carpets and hard floors and are able to maneuver around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates a smart maps of your home that aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean up efficiently. The i3+ doesn't feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or any other top-rated robots that we tested. It may be stuck on power cords and socks and have difficulty navigating between surfaces, such as hardwood and rug.
iRobot recommends you clear out areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, including putting away any toys or clutter it might encounter. You should also keep the dustbin and filters clear to avoid getting blocked. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or its battery is depleted it will return to its docking station, automatically empties its dirt into the station's dust bin and continues cleaning where it started. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for about an hour and a half continuous use, and takes around three hours to fully recharge.
2. iRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line and comes with the latest technology. It has self-charging and self-navigating. But the most important feature is the self-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for regular maintenance.
The Roomba I7+ is able to map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning jobs, and you can control your robot through the app or via voice.
The i7+ is faster and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from any surface including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin, which eliminates the main sources of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.
We were also amazed by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning routines, move itself around the room and vacuum an area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and easy with the iRobot Home app. After being connected, to give voice commands to the i7+ like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car in a sea of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It is powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filter system captures allergens, and then releases cleaner air into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets, and then pick up large dust or crumbs. It comes with three suction modes to suit the task that is being completed. It quickly converts from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum, and then back to floor.
This model comes with an attached dock that charges the Dyson to 100 percent in 3.5 hours. It also offers an easy access to two attachments and a wand. This is a huge improvement over older Dysons which require a long charge and are difficult to store.
The biggest issue with the V10 is its limited run time. The tests conducted by CR show that its claims to run up to 60 minutes are misleading. This is an average and not a remarkable time to run a battery-powered cordless vac. That's still enough run time to clean most of an average-sized house, but not quite long enough to clean every area (though the second time around usually can be effective). However, this model doesn't have its advantages: It's lighter and agile than older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming efficiency is superior on carpets with a low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums the 694 is an entry-level model that's an excellent choice for people who don't want to invest too much on a robotic. It was able to remove most types of debris in our tests, and frequently went over the same area multiple times to give an extensive clean. Its flat front makes it possible to reach the corners and edges of walls.
Related Site iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it's not equipped with the ability to map that comes with more advanced models like our top choices such as the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. Because of this, it may get stuck on things like phone cords and low furniture, and it often is power-depleted before making it back to its home base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694, as it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower recurring cost, has more advanced automation abilities and is better able to navigate itself. It also has a larger dustbin and charges quicker.
The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba. It also comes with physical boundaries and can be controlled with your smartphone's voice assistance. It's also more durable, has a stronger motor, and is more effective on floors with low pile and bare.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a name you see on all sorts of home electronics It's no surprise that they're one of the most reputable robot vacuum and mop manufacturers. Jet Bot AI+ has the most advanced onboard technology to navigate and avoid obstacles.
The app provides plenty of options to customize your robotic cleaner, such as virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior modification docking frequency settings and more. The app is simple to use and understand similar to other Samsung devices.
In our tests our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and handled dog hair (on carpet) very well, picking up 86% of it. It didn't do very well in avoiding taller items such as socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also a bit more expensive than some of the other models we tested which could be a deal-breaker for some shoppers.
The smart vacuum comes with an onboard camera that is accessible through the app. You can also set up a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. This feature lets you check in on your pets or children while you're away. The filter and the dustbin can be washed for a quick, painless clean-up. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean station that self-empties to keep the robot's dustbin clear and optimizes suction power for each cleaning.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Black and Decker robots have been designed specifically for flooring made of hard wood. They feature an extra-wide cleaning path as well as a large dust bin that can hold 2X more debris than other models to keep the area clear for maximum runtime. They also have two side sweepers to clean around corners and edges. The POWERSERIES model also comes with AutoSense which adjusts the power level based on whether it is collecting dirt on the surface or embedded dirt. It also has a smart app that lets you see the virtual map and manage functions and schedules. Plus, you can monitor the battery's status and send it back to its dock for charging at the touch of the button. The app allows you to alter the LED lights on the top of the vacuum so that you can determine where it is focused or if it's stuck.
The app allows you to manually steer the robot when needed. My living room rug, for example is darkly colored that can trip up some other robots. The HRV 425BL, however, continued to move across the border, without notifying the cliff. And the ability to create weekly cleaning schedules is a fantastic time-saving feature.
