Robots That Vacuum and Mop

Robots that vacuum and mop provide the convenience of cleaning dry debris (dust dirt, grit) and wet messes (spills and staining) in one go without the need to change devices. They can also save storage space compared to having two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot will have impressive navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models that automatically empty their bins and fill up their water tank, and wash their mopping pads with an appropriate dock.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It has plenty to offer at a low cost and is one of the most simple robots we've tested to install. Unpacking is simple and the quick-start manual will have you up and running in no time. It comes with a full dust bag, water tank and a hard floor solution.

The S1 Pro is a powerful small machine that can cleans up a mess and also vacuums well. The mops are spun at high speed and use 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to quickly remove dirt, pet hair and sticky dried spills. The vacuum cleaner comes with four power settings, as well as a selection of brushes and attachments, and an intuitive app that lets you choose the type of cleaning you'd like for each room.

For example, you can choose to have the robot clean up the living and kitchen areas but be careful with the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro's front collision sensors and its smart navigation technology are also excellent, with the robot being able to detect tiny obstacles that other models have difficulty overcoming. The only issue it has is that it can crash into walls and objects at full speed. However, just a glance at the cleaning history within the app will show you exactly what it's doing and where it's headed, and which obstacles it's run into or avoided.

A large LCD screen on the docking station tells you when maintenance tasks must be completed like emptying the debris tray, and washing the water tank that is dirty. It is also able to mix detergent into the water tank automatically, using a 600ml eufy solution.

Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop have plenty of run-time as well, with the mop being able to operate for an 184-minute runtime in Quiet mode, while the vacuum is able to do 136 minutes in normal mode, before having to recharge or return to the base to refill. You can view the full cleaning details in the app, which is intuitively laid out and easily understood however we would have liked to be able to distinguish between a vacuum and mop and vacuum clean when looking at a cleaned area in the history of cleaning.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the most recent version of Roborock's most popular robot mop and vacuum, is the most up-to-date version. The model this year has a double agitator built into its mopping pad. This enhances the carpet cleaning capabilities of this model. The S8 Pro Ultra also has improved suction power, allowing it to remove small hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaners may overlook.

As with the two other Roborock models I've tried it also has a 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology that help it avoid walls, furniture and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and includes two cameras that can recognize objects, and determine if they are walls or other surfaces. It will then automatically alter its direction and clean them without missing a beat.

It's the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed but it's also the most packed with features. Its sleek, angular style is eye-catching and it has only three physical buttons that include the power button which also resumes cleaning; a mop-only button that doubles as a child lock and a home button that can return the robot to its dock. The hinged lid can be opened to reveal a 350ml dustbin and 200ml of water tank. The water tank automatically empties and the bin auto-refills.

The only negative I discovered with this model is that the VibraRise mop pad mount isn't movable. Although you can change the mopping cloth (if necessary), it's a pain to take off the mount to wash manually. I've noticed that any plush carpet the robot crosses will come into contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener mechanism on the mount, and can cause abrasions.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart capabilities which include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. The Roborock app lets you manage and configure these features. It also contains maps and advanced mopping options. The app also lets you to schedule cleanings and monitor battery life and component maintenance. But you'll need to jump through a few hoops in order to enable voice control on this model, which is a shame considering the performance of this model.

The Dreame X40 robot vacuum and mop is a market leader with innovative features, superior suction power, and advanced mopping capabilities. Its smart design allows you to customize and efficiently clean while saving time.

It also lets the robot to access low-profile furniture which makes it a great choice for small apartments and condos with limited space. The side brush automatically tilts down when it spots wet spots. This is a great feature that allows the X40 to avoid causing damage to floors through the frequent back-and-forth movement.

Contrary to other robots which only focus on one thing, the X40 is capable of performing both vacuuming and mopping simultaneously or in a series. It can be programmed to mop only the hard floors and skip carpeted areas, or vice versa. It can be controlled using the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure smooth voice-controlled operation.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that is among the most expensive available and comes with a lot of extra features that distinguish it from. Smart DuoScrub, which is a new feature of its mop, utilizes two mop heads with high-speed motors to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a suction force of 7,000Pa. This is much higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni, and it can remove pet hair and smaller dirt particles in addition to removing spills and wet spots.

The mop is also dried and cleaned inside the base station after each use. This feature is great because it stops mould and unpleasant odours from building up in storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robot mop or vacuum models. It could be a great method to keep your home cleaner longer.

There's an impressive amount of settings available that include the ability to schedule cleaning and adjust a variety of preferences. These can be set via the app or there are buttons that can be found on the device itself. The app is easy to use and offers many options to customize the cleaning routine. Additionally, there are numerous features that other robots do not include, for instance, the Clean Genius mode that automatically increases suction power whenever it detects dust particles, instead of relying on an individual setting.

The L20 Ultra has a stylish design that has a white-and-metallic look that looks sophisticated and classy. It is a little heavier at 4kg than some of the other robots listed on this list however it's not a lot of weight. It feels solid and well-constructed.
