The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept at cleaning dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our first choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

This mop and vacuum combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks much like a Roomba model than the bulky models of the rivals. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).


It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an easy mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a concern in the mornings prior to work or during the night when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, although it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and a little more cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will delight most.

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features to help you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front to detect hazards in real-time however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with the amount of dirt they tend to be.

If you have a bigger home, you should consider selecting a model with a spot or zone cleaning mode. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your home needs to be cleaned using the app or voice command. If you have lots of furniture, a stair-mode is also useful.
