Robots That Vacuum and Mop

Robots that mop and vacuum offer the convenience of cleaning both dry debris (dust, dirt) and wet messes (spills and stains) in one time without the need to change devices. They can also save space when compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot will provide excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models that have docks that allow them to automatically empty their bins, fill their water tanks, and wash the mopping pads.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It's one of the easiest robots to set up that we've ever tested. Unpacking is easy and the quick-start manual gets you up and running in no time. You'll have a an entire dust bag, water tank, and hard floor solution.

The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can mop and vacuum well. The mops spin at fast speeds and can apply 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, allowing for quick removal of pet hair, dirt, and dried sticky spills. The vacuum comes with four power modes, a range of brushes and attachments, and a user-friendly app that lets you pick the type of cleaning you'd like for each room.

You could, for instance ask the robot to clean the kitchen and the living room thoroughly but leave the bedroom to itself. The S1 Pro's front colision sensors and smart navigation tech are also excellent and the robot is able to detect tiny obstacles that other models struggle with. The only problem is that it is known to smash into objects and walls at full speed. However looking at the cleaning history on the app will reveal exactly what the robot completed, where it's traveling, and what obstacles it has encountered or avoided.

The docking station comes with an LCD display that shows the need for maintenance for cleaning up debris and rinsing the dirty water tank. It can also mix detergent into the water tank in a controlled manner by using a 600ml eufy solution.

Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum have a long run time. The mop is able to run for 184 minutes in Quiet Mode and the vacuum can last 136 mins in normal mode, before having to recharge or returning to the base. The app is simple to use and intuitive and lets you look at all the details of the cleaning.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the latest version of the company's flagship robot vacuum and mop. The model of this year features two agitators built into its mopping pad. This improves the cleaning capabilities of carpets with this model. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction power that enables it to pick up finer hairs and other debris other robotic cleaners may miss.

This Roborock model, just like the other two models I tested is equipped with infrared and 3D obstacle avoidance technology that helps it overcome obstacles like furniture, walls and other obstacles. But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things one step further by having a dual camera that can recognize objects and determine whether they are a wall or another surface. It then can alter its path automatically and clean around the objects, without missing a step.

This is the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed but it's also the most feature-packed. Its sleek and angular design is eye catching and comes with three buttons that are physically accessible. The power button, which resumes the cleaning mop function, a button for cleaning that doubles as a child-lock, and a home-button to send the robot to its dock. The hinged lid opens up to reveal a 350ml dustbin and 200ml tank of water. The water tank self-empties and the bin is auto-refilling.

The only downside I found to this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't movable. While you can replace the mopping cloth (if it's required) however, it's a hassle to remove the mount itself to wash it manually. I've found that any plush carpet the robot crosses will be in contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener mechanism on the mount, which can cause abrasions.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart capabilities which include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. The Roborock app is where you can manage and configure these smart features. It also has maps and advanced mopping options. The app allows you to schedule cleanings, track the battery life and maintain your components. You'll have to go through a few steps to enable voice control on this model. It's a shame considering how well-performing it is otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 robot vacuum and mop is a market leader with innovative features, superior suction power, and advanced mowing abilities. Its intelligent design allows you to customize and efficiently clean while saving time.

The X40 is the first robot vacuum cleaner that can deliver 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which makes it one of the best alternatives available. This powerful vacuum can clean up dry mess, including pet hair and dust. It comes with a mop of high quality that cleans hard floors without using a pad. The X40 is also very quiet when in operation and only occasionally bursting during modes changes or self-maintenance.

Another standout feature is the X40's extendable and liftable side brush, which allows it to get into difficult-to-access corners and clean furniture, such as tables and chair legs. It also lets the robot to access low-profile furniture which makes it a great choice for small apartments and condos with limited space. My Source tilts automatically down when it spots wet spots. This is a wonderful feature that enables the X40 to avoid causing damage to floors through repeated back-and-forth movements.

Unlike some other robots that only focus on one task, the X40 is capable of performing mopping and vacuuming simultaneously or in a series. It can also be programmed to eliminate areas with carpets and mop only hard floors, and reverse the process. It can be controlled using the Dreame app or by using Alexa, Siri, and Google Home for smooth voice-controlled operation.

The app is user-friendly and simple to use and the X40's clever features are a breeze to install. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, adjust suction power and mode, look at floor plans and maps, and manage mopping settings. The X40 can also track its progress and inform you when it's finished.

The X40 is easy to maintain and has numerous features that make it an excellent option for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the dustbin, and clean mop pads before refilling them with cleaning solution and fresh water. It also can detect when the mop pad is overflowing and notify you before it gets overflowing, reducing the necessity for manual maintenance.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models available. It has several characteristics that make it stand out. Smart DuoScrub is a brand new feature in its mop heads, makes use of two mop heads with high-speed motors to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a maximum suction force of 7,000Pa. This is more than that of the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni and can vacuum up pet hair and smaller dirt particles as well as picking up spills and wet spots.

The mop is also cleaned and dried inside the base station after every use. This is an excellent feature as it stops the growth of odours and mould in the storage area, and it also makes the mop system a lot more efficient. This is a system we haven't yet seen on other robot vacuum and mop models, and it could be a good way of keeping your home hygienic for longer.

There are a lot of options, including the option to schedule cleaning times and adjust preferences. These settings can be adjusted via the app or direct buttons on the unit itself. The app is simple to use and offers many options to customize the cleaning routine. Additionally, there are numerous features that other robots don't include, such as the Clean Genius mode that automatically increases suction power when it detects dust particles instead of relying on an individual setting.

The L20 Ultra has a stylish design with a white-and-metallic finish that looks elegant and sophisticated. It's heavier than the other two-in-1 robots on this list - at 4kg - but it's not obscenely heavy, and it is sturdy and well-built. The mopping system is also well designed and the double-rotating mop is a great choice for hard floors or in corners. They can also extend to 2mm of baseboards due to the MopExtend feature which is a nice touch.
