Bedside Crib and Travel Cot

It's the ideal solution for a mother recovering from a c-section since you can easily carry your baby to your side for night feeds or nappy changes without having to get up. And the most cozy cribs have breathable mesh sides which you can see your baby through.

Some cribs let you lower the barrier completely. This lets you sleep with your baby without any risk. (Make sure that the crib you choose meets the current safety requirements). Some cribs let you lower the barrier, but raise it again after you have lifted the baby out. This is better for parents with concerns about their child rolling off their mattress.

If you're looking for something smaller Tutti Bambini CoZee has oak legs with a variety of fabrics that complement your decor. It is also very simple to put together. Georgina who took part in the MFM test was capable of putting it together quickly and without having to look up any instructions. It's also a fantastic travel cot. It folds flat and can be popped into bags.

The Next2me Magic, shortlisted for Best Cot, Crib, or Moses Basket in the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards, has a larger capacity, but it is compact and easy to attach to your bed. Georgina found it easy to put together, however she was not convinced that the zips could have been more clearly explained on the instruction sheet.

Easy to clean

If you're looking at bedside cribs and travel cots, look for ones that have a removable mattress cover that is machine-washable. That will help you keep it clean from leaky nappies, sick babies and dribbles. It's important to choose a product that is easily disassembled and partially dismantled, so you can get into every nook and cranny to conduct an efficient cleaning and sanitising.

This is vital, since it will ensure that all dirt and germs have been removed. It is also important to ensure that the sides of your crib are securely attached, so there are no gaps or areas in which your child could fall down or get trapped.
