Greenpower Mobility - All-Energy Medium and Heavy-Duty Vehicles

Greenpower creates and distributes a full suite of low-floor and high-floor all-electric heavy-duty and medium-duty vehicles. This includes transit buses, school buses as cargo buses and shuttles.

EV Star is a highly customizable, zero-emission vehicle that's fully FTA certified, Altoona tested and Buy America conforming. It offers class-leading range, ADA wheelchair provisions, and cargo delivery configurations.

GreenPower Motor Company produces a full suite of high-floor and low-floor all-electric medium and heavy-duty vehicles. The EV Star Cab & Chassis is their flagship vehicle, and it is able to be adapted to meet a variety of applications. The platform's clean sheet design allows the best battery pack placement and a lower center of gravity, resulting in higher payload to range ratios.

The EV Star REEFERX was developed for mid-to-last mile refrigerated deliveries and catering applications. The class 4 refrigerated trucks have a single interior wall structure and a higher insulation level than conventional trucks, allow for seamless sanitation and better temperature control. They also have a longer lifespan. The EV Star REEFERX has a higher capacity for cargo and an industry-leading payload to range for zero-emission freight or passenger transport.

GreenPower has collaborated with Perrone Robotics to up-fit the EV Star with their TONY (To Navigate You) autonomous vehicle system, which will allow fleets to quickly transition to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star can also be wirelessly charging up to 75 kW.

We had the chance to test the EV9 for several hours on a local freeway and found it to be easy to drive and comfortable for long distances. The ride is smooth on bumps and ruts, and the EV9 is a master of suppressing the sound of traffic and wind on the highway. The acceleration is surprisingly fast and the car has adjustable regenerative brakes that allow "one pedal driving" by taking off the accelerator.

The EV9 is extremely reliable and can be fully recharged in about three hours at home, or with any commercial charger. Drivers can select between two operating modes that include eco mode and sports mode. Eco mode is a great way to increase torque as well as cruise control and handling, while sport mode increases speed. Both are fun to drive and offer an experience unlike any other for anyone that has not driven an electric vehicle before.

In addition to the EV9, GreenPower has several other electric vehicles, such as a multi-purpose, all-electric mini bus called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA-compliant and can be used as executive shuttles, microtransit and transit vanpools, buses, and paratransit vehicles.

GreenPower produces approximately 10 EV Star busses a month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority. The Jacksonville Transit Authority is replacing their fleet of diesel vehicles with 100 electric cars. With green scooters aiming to electrify schools across the nation, GreenPower plans on ramping production to meet demand. Their EV Star buses are the first of their kind to be Altoona tested and FMVSS certified, Buy America compliant, and ADA compliant. This makes them eligible for federal transit grants. Stay tuned for updates as we follow the AV Star on its demonstration tour later in the year. We'll be sure to provide more information on this innovative EV!
