WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. A random substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.

The upgraded gear typically has a more value in trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrade r allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapons. However, the item used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in every major city, and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your gear. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

The cost of upgrading will depend on the current level of the equipment being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs of item upgraders in a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor using an button, which displays an item's preview at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the item slot, and the current level of the item. For instance, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Certain upgrades provide a discount on the Flightstones. Once item upgrading is upgraded to a certain level and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currencies.

Item upgraders can be found in a variety of locations including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit as well as a disadvantage.

Crests


Players have a number of options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. They can make use of Flightstones which are a general upgrade currency that is accessible to everyone players, or crests that are more specific and used to upgrade specific levels of the item. Crests are an integral part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests are only available for equipment that is of a particular rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. Utilizing these new currencies isn't too complicated however, the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. Once a piece of gear attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This is to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest level possible for all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

Another notable change is that crests only have one purpose and it's crucial to use them wisely. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the top-quality equipment you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for items like rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
