Albums
Toto's discography comprises 13 studio albums as well as 4 live albums. There are also a few compilations. In addition to releasing original music, Toto has also done collaborations with other artists and on soundtracks for films. Toto has won numerous Grammy Awards.
Before the formation of Toto the group, members worked as sessions for other musicians. David Paich, the son of drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all played on Boz Scaggs’ 1975 album Silk Degrees. The group's collaboration led to formation of Toto in the year 1976.
Turn Back, Toto's third studio album, was criticized by critics for lacking hit singles. In 1985 the group's lead singer Fergie Fredericksen quit the group, and they held auditions to find a replacement frontman. The band picked guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in 1986.
In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by re-discovering demos and tapes from the past to release a special record called Toto XX. The album was well-loved by fans and Toto embarked on the tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
Shem Von Schröck replaced Leland Sklar as drummer on the tour in support of the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live album titled Falling in Between, which included live recordings from the tour as well as an interview with the band.
