What Are the Different Types of Codes and How Do They Work?

Modern car keys have unique chips that are unique to each vehicle, unlike older keys. This helps to prevent thieves from simply taking the key and starting the car.

The keys can be purchased from an auto dealer or copied in a locksmith's shop. The process of the manufacturer varies, but it involves turning the ignition key to the "on" position without beginning the car, and then removing the key within the time frame.

Transponder Codes

The name implies that transponders send out an encoded signal with a four-digit number code when it is interrogated by air traffic control.
