Wayne Rooney is ruining every team he goes to.

Wayne Rooney said he was "angry and disappointed" after Plymouth's team lost 0-4 to Sheffield Wednesday in their first game since taking office.

Rooney, who was appointed as Plymouth's manager in May, has now started his first match. Plymouth Argyle lost to Sheffield Wednesday 0-4 in the first round of the 2023/24 EFL Championship at Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield, England.

Rooney said after the match that Sheffield "deserves" the three points and that his side, Plymouth, have failed to abide by the basics and want to reflect on themselves after the loss. "I think the difference is a natural outcome. What was really disappointing was the basics: winning ball, second ball, cross jersey," he told Sky Sports after the match.

He went on to say, "I think we conceded four goals at cross four. It was really disappointing that the basics of the game were not followed. We didn't play with the confidence that we showed in pre-season for the last couple of weeks, we didn't catch the ball well enough, we didn't handle the crowd enough in the early stages, so Sheffield Wednesday set the stage for the game and allowed them to score at good timing. At the end of the game we lost two more goals. It was really disappointing and upsetting, because it wasn't the performance I wanted to see."

Rooney also said, "I think players need to qualify to play on the field. Whether you're a newcomer or a long-term player, you need to qualify to play. Of course, you can lose a football match, but there are times when you want to see players work, run, and tackle."

Rooney finally concluded, "A lot of fans came a long way today, but our performance wasn't enough. It's very disappointing and we have to make sure it doesn't happen again."

After being dismissed from Birmingham City earlier this year, Rooney has managed at Derby County and DC United, with a winning rate of less than 30 percent and is under pressure to produce results as a manager. Rooney may soon have to find another job if he shows signs of disaster again.

Rooney's Plymouth will be looking to bounce back from their defeat in the first round of the Carabao Cup against second-team Cheltenham Town. A further defeat here would only add to Rooney's burden.    토토사이트 추천 Links to an external site.
