The management medal is still picking stars in the sky

A total of 35 gold medals are at stake in the management event of the 2024 Paris Olympics. Ten countries have won more than one gold medal, with 15 sub-sport events completed by the 30th local time. The Paris Olympics are much more decentralized considering that 12 countries shared 37 gold medals in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics three years ago.

It is also proof that the swimming skills of various countries have improved. However, we have not yet been thrilled with the gold medal.

The Korean swimming team has won only one bronze medal, as it is said that the "swimming renaissance has come with the advent of the golden generation." It is a valuable medal that Kim Woo-min earned by performing "Miracle on Lane 1" in the men's 400-meter freestyle. The medal is the first Olympic medal that Korean swimming has won in 12 years since Park Tae-hwan at the 2012 London Games.

However, he was empty-handed in other medal hopefuls. Hwang, who was considered the favorite to win the 200-meter freestyle race, failed to pass the semifinal, and the 800-meter relay team, dubbed the "swimming dream team," also failed to win a medal due to poor records in the final round.

The 200-meter freestyle, 400-meter freestyle, and 800-meter relay were considered highly likely to win an Olympic medal, but they were completely different from each other. The youngsters were not able to overwhelm their outstanding competitors.

Chung Chang-hoon, president of the Korea Swimming Federation, said, "My goal is to win three medals. I am confident that at least one gold medal will come out unconditionally," but his performance fell short of that.

In fact, achieving the goal including the gold medal is a failure. There is nothing to look forward to in the remaining games.

There is a 200m backstroke where Lee Ju-ho reached the final of the Doha World Championships in February, and the realistic goal is to advance to the final rather than to win a medal. Lee Ju-ho has never made the final stage of this event at the Olympics.

Expectations were high for the Paris Olympics, but the Korean team has yet to set a new Korean record, let alone a medal. At the Hangzhou Asian Games in September last year, medals and Korean records were poured in every day. Even if the performance has turned into a much more burdensome Olympics, the management team's performance leaves much to be desired.

Although some point out that the depth of water at the stadium is shallow, Kim Woo-min said, "All players play in equal conditions. In the end, it was determined by the difference in skills of individuals. Pointing at depth is just an excuse." Other players' thoughts were similar to those of Kim.

In the end, it is largely due to the pressure of the Olympics. More than 10,000 spectators shout loudly at the La Defense Arena in Paris, which is an environment that our players have never experienced. Not a few players were depressed by the overwhelming atmosphere.

He experienced big stages such as the Asian Games and the World Championships, but the Olympic stage was different.

"I'm embarrassed and disappointed that my overall record is low," Hwang said. "I won a medal at the Asian Games and the World Championships, but I've never won a gold medal at the Olympics. I have a lot more to learn. It was an opportunity to look back on the swimming path that I've been taking so far."

"I am 21 years old now. I will be able to play for a longer time, and I will be able to challenge myself to the LA Olympics in four years. I will be able to show my improvement in the next Olympics," he said.
