Nevada Governor Kenigin signed a bill to officially open the door to online gambling in Silver State on June 14.
The new law authorizes Nevada gaming regulators to build the infrastructure to permit and oversee online gambling if such gambling is deemed legitimate.
Online gaming is a federal issue whose legality is unclear at the moment, but it will probably be decided by the U.S. court system or Congress in the coming years.
The bill signed by Guinn was passed with broad support in Nevada's legislature. It was also widely supported by the state's main casino operators.
"Nevada is at the forefront of legalized gaming in the United States, largely thanks to regulators acting as models for gaming regulation everywhere," Guinn said in a statement. "With this legislation, we will be ready to play a leadership role in all areas of legalized gambling."
If online gaming is eventually considered legal, the new law would authorize the Nevada Gaming Commission to regulate internet gambling, as well as games through closed-wire systems that allow guests to gamble in hotel rooms, for example.
With Guinn's signature, the Commission could begin discussing this at its meeting in July at the earliest. 바카라사이트 추천
Among other things, the law empowers the commission: To ensure that online games are operating in compliance with federal law; to ensure that online games are safe and reliable; to ensure that players are of legal gambling age; to create and manage licenses to operate interactive games; to create and manage licenses to manufacture interactive game systems.
