Last week, the Ontario Lottery and Game Company issued quarterly game payments to local host communities as Ontario enters a new calendar year. The Crown Agency's payments are for the third quarter of fiscal year 2022-2023 and have been sent to 29 municipalities. The City of Toronto was also one of the things to host Casino Woodbine.

OLG Shares Revenue From Local Casinos With Local Government Contributions Agreement. Each casino revenue-sharing payment is based on a predetermined formula that applies to all properties. Game funds are then used by local governments to promote economic recovery, infrastructure development and job creation for a better Ontario.

The Crown Corporation reported in a press release last week that the City of Toronto collected over C$6.3 million in payments in the third quarter of the 2022-2023 fiscal year. This brings the total for the full fiscal year to more than C$21.1 million from the city's non-tax gaming revenue. These funds will now be reinvested in the local economy.

Casino Woodbine first opened for guests in March 2000, and since then the area has received a total of C$357.6 million for becoming a host community. The gaming facility is located at 555 Rexdale Blvd. in etobicoke and is considered home to gaming entertainment along with live table games, slot machines, sports betting and electronic tables.

In addition to Toronto, other municipalities that have won third quarter payments include Greater Sudbury. From October 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022, the City paid C$463,325 for hosting Gateway Casino Sudbury. For the fiscal year, the region has already collected more than C$1.48 million and C$47.387 million since the casino began.

Over the past seven years, casino operators have invested more than C$1.8 billion statewide in private sector capital investments. Since 2017, these investments have enabled the introduction of seven new casinos, one planned development and additional game expansion and non-game amenities. And since 1994, casinos have earned more than C$1.93 billion in non-tax gaming revenue.

Niagara Falls is the biggest beneficiary of the municipal contribution agreement, as it hosts Fallsview Casino Resort and Casino Niagara. These two are one of the state's top casino venues. In the third quarter, the city paid a huge C$4,433,189 payment. In the current OLG fiscal year, the city has received over C$15 million in payments so far.

Other municipalities that also saw increased gaming revenue in the third quarter include Brantford, Elora and Woodstock. Hosting Element Casino Brantford Sea Brantford received C$1,372,633 in non-tax gambling revenue. Meanwhile, Elora received C$717,647 for hosting the Element Casino Grand River, while Woodstock was allocated C$369,638 for hosting Gateway Casino Woodstock.
