"KBA 3x3 Korea Tour 2024 in Inje" held at the Sangnam Sports Park Gymnasium in Inje County, Gangwon Province on the 11th started its preliminary round. Due to the nature of the 3x3 competition, many players participated in the competition with unusual team names as usual.

In the high school where 15 teams participated, the team name Goesan peppers stood out. Goesan peppers consisting of Kim Jae-woo, Lee Seok-joo, Lee Woo-jin, and Do Won-jun were just basketball-loving teenagers. They planned to participate in the competition because they met while playing basketball in the neighborhood, and they ran from Goesan, North Chungcheong Province to Inje, Gangwon Province.

Lee Woo-jin said, "Since I was a freshman in high school, I've been playing 5-to-5 and 3x3 basketball in my neighborhood, and I've met many friends. I thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to participate in national competitions as well as in the neighborhood. This is my first 3x3 competition, but I'm so happy that I had a good experience."

Like other teams, Goesan peppers have neither a leader nor a person who takes care of them. Three young teenagers, who are just 17 years old, came all the way to Inje.

"I think it took me about three and a half hours to get there. It was quite a long way to go (laughs). But I came all the way here because I liked basketball. I came back after having a good experience."

The barriers to the first national championship were high. Goesan peppers had to pack early on as they lost both of their high school qualifying matches. Although they were lagging behind other teams in performance, Goesan peppers showed strong performance and displayed good game manners.
 

Lee Jae-woo said with a bitter smile, "I feel that the opposing teams are of high quality and lack of preparation. The strategy and position seem to be quite important. I feel that I have to prepare harder next time."

Kim Jae-woo also said, "After playing in the 3x3 competition, the role of shooter is very important. Among the four players, I think I need to clearly select a shooter and practice."  

They also asked about the meaning of the team's name. Lee Woo-jin said, "Chili peppers are a specialty of Goesan. I wanted to impress the opponent team, so I named them Goesan peppers."
The first attempt ended in failure, but they will continue to participate in 3x3 competitions nationwide to gain experience. "I plan to participate in the next competition. It will take place in Jecheon, close to Goesan. As the competition is held in North Chungcheong Province, I will adjust my uniform and prepare more thoroughly so that I can win one title," Lee said.
