It's a very bold prediction that Sonny is our future

British media 'Football London' reported on the 11th (Korean time) that Postecoglou expressed confidence in Son Heung-min next season.

Postecoglou has recently lost four consecutive games. He expressed dissatisfaction with the mainstream of the squad's failure to understand his football philosophy. He predicted that there would be a major shake-up through this summer's transfer market.

Whether Captain Son Heung-min is included in the list is an important concern.

Football London said, "A lot of names are linked to transfers at Tottenham right now. Postecoglou admitted that in order to create a club that matches his image in preparation for the new season, he should let out even good players."

Football London said, "Spurs captain Son Heung-min, who had 17 goals and nine assists in 32 Premier League matches this season, has one year left on his contract with the club. He also has the option of extending it for 12 months. Postecoglou predicted that Son is not one of the good players who needs to play, but that he is needed for the next season."

Postecoglou said, "Geez, that's a huge leap. The story that Sonny is going to be a part of our future is a very big prediction. Yes, he's going to be a part of our future."

It is somewhat exaggerated. I suspect Son was asked if he was included in the next season's plan. Postecoglou reacted as if it was a tremendously great discovery. It is possible to speculate that he was sarcastic because he was asked such an obvious question. Son has been the most prolific scorer in his team this season.

Son scored 17 goals and nine assists in the Premier League this season. He has scored double-digit goals for eight consecutive years from the 2016-2017 season. Son's most goals scored in a single season are 23 goals in the 2021-2022 season. His 17 goals are his second following the 2020-2021 season. Tottenham has three more matches to play, and thus has the possibility to score additional goals.

At the same time, Son Heung-min will challenge for the third time in his career (10 goals and 10 assists).

In the 32-year history of the Premier League, which was launched in 1992, a total of 43 players joined the Tenten Club. So far, only 14 players including Son have achieved more than two wins.

There are only five players for the third or more innings. Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Mohamed Salah (Riverpool, five times), Erik Cantona (Manchester United), Frank Lampard (Chelsea, four times), and Didier Drogba (Chelsea, three times). All of them are legends representing not only each club but also the Premier League. Son will be on par with Drogba if he adds one more help.

Postecoglou took the helm of Tottenham last summer. He is said to have been generally successful in his first season as a fifth-place finisher, but his recent four-game losing streak is painful.

Postecoglou said Tottenham still has a long way to go and stressed the need for intensive constitutional improvement.

The Athletic said, "Postecoglou wants everyone to join his style. To do that, he said, we need to remove even good players."

In a recent interview, Postecoglou also expressed his difficulties, saying, "I don't think the mainstream of the squad understands my football philosophy."

Postecoglou said, "I need to change this team. I need to make a team that can play Tottenham's soccer. To do that, we need a transfer market. You can't have everyone and bring in new players again," he said, hinting that someone needs to get out.

"That's why we have to let out even those who sometimes say, 'He's a good player,'" Postecoglou said. "That's how we can change."

This means that even a player with good personal skills is not necessary if it does not match the tactics pursued by Postecoglou.

The Athletic said, "Guglielmo Vicario (GK) is for sure. The same applies to Pedro Porro (wingback), Mickey Van der Pen (centre back), and Christian Romero (centre back), who enjoyed a good season. Pape Sarr (center midfielder) was sluggish in recent months, but he was still good. Brennan Johnson (wing forward) is similar. Of course, Son Heung-min (wing forward). But what's the next?" and picked players with solid footing.
