Wembanyama unanimously named Rookie of the Year

San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama was named Rookie of the Year.

The NBA Secretariat announced on its official website on the 7th that Wembanyama was selected as the Rookie of the Year for the 2023-24 season.

Wembanyama is set to win the Wilt Chamberlain Trophy.

He received the award unanimously, receiving first place votes from all 99 voters, consisting of journalists and commentators.

It is the first time he has been unanimous in this year's rookie vote since Carl-Anthony Towns in 2016.

He is the third player from the San Antonio club since David Robinson (1990) and Tim Duncan (1998), and the first from France.

Wembanyama, who was drafted by San Antonio as the first overall draft pick, ranked first among rookies with 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 3.6 blocks this season. He ranked fourth with 3.9 assists and second with 1.2 steals.

In particular, Block was ranked first in the league, but he is the second rookie to be ranked first in this category after Manute Ball (1985-86).

He was also recorded as the first player to score 20 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks even though his average playing time in the season did not exceed 30 minutes.

At the same time, he became the first player to score 1,500 points, 700 rebounds, 250 assists, 250 block shots, and 100 three-point shots in a season.

Oklahoma City's Chet Holmgren followed with 98 second-place votes and one third-place votes, while Charlotte Hornets' Brandon Miller was third with one second-place vote and 83 third-place votes.  토토사이트 추천
