Some business travelers and certain experts who want to visit Cambodia will now have to complete only three days of quarantine on arrival, not 14 days, once fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The new rules have been in place since Monday (Oct. 18), several local media said, citing a statement on Saturday from Cambodia's health ministry.

The scheme provides "foreign investors," "technical experts," "cooperative project managers and coordinators," and travellers with so-called "guarantees" or "invitations" from local companies.

According to media reports, families of such people also deserve shortened quarantine, providing that they are fully vaccinated.

Also starting Monday, other travelers who have been banned from entering the country altogether, including Cambodians and foreigners, will only need to undergo seven days of quarantine upon arrival in Cambodia, instead of 14 days. Travelers who are unvaccinated or have not yet been vaccinated will need to undergo a 14-day quarantine on arrival.

Cambodia's easing was due to the fact that a majority of the country's population had already been vaccinated against COVID-19, several media outlets reported, citing the ministry.

All travelers entering Cambodia must present a certificate indicating a "negative" COVID-19 test result issued no later than 72 hours before arrival.

Nagakov Inc., the operator of Phnom Penh's exclusive casino complex Nagaworld listed in Hong Kong, said in a business update earlier this month that a lack of "movement or recommendation business from abroad" in the first nine months of the year contributed to a sharp decline in "recommended VIP" play.

Casino operations in Nagaworld resumed on Sept. 15 after being closed in early March. The reopening included a series of new COVID-19 response measures in the complex.
