Casino sales at the Jeju Dream Tower Casino Resort (file photo) in the South Korean resort of Jeju Island fell 20.0 percent on-month to about 14.33 billion won in September, according to data submitted to the Korea Exchange on Tuesday. Sales fell 10.9 percent in August compared with July.

Nonetheless, sales in the gaming business in September were up 336.1% year-over-year. Casino sales in properties are reported after deducting rebates and fees.

Table game sales reached nearly 13.15 billion won in September, down 17.4% from August, but up 358.3% from a year ago, a period when island tourism was still affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Machine game sales were about 1.19 billion won last month, down 40.8% sequentially, but up 183.8% from a year ago.

Casino Table "Drop" in September, the amount customers paid to buy chips for table gaming, was about 103.76 billion won, up 67.7% from a year ago but down 21.8% sequentially.

The total number of casino visitors to Jeju Dream Tower in September totaled 28,165, a decrease of only 1.9% compared to August.

According to financial data released on the website of resort operator Lotte Tour Development, the number of casino visitors in August since its opening in June 2021 set a monthly casino record of 28,718.

Hotel sales fell 24.9% sequentially to about 7.91 billion won in September, data showed on Tuesday. The tally was also down 7.5% from the same month a year ago.

The company did not comment on the reason for the change.

Casino sales totaled 103.6 billion won in the first nine months of this year, up 186.5% year-on-year.

Table game sales rose 187.0% year-on-year to 90.22 billion won in the year to Sept. 30, while machine game sales rose 182.7% to nearly 10.14 billion won.

Accumulated casino table drops to 888.16 billion won in the first nine months of this year, up 180.0% year-on-year.

Hotel sales fell 23.2% year-on-year to about 69.27 billion won in the January-September period.
