Inspire Arena Leads Mohegan Debut At Asia Gaming Resort Biz

South Korea's new Mohegan Inspire Entertainment Resort will focus on attracting locals for entertainment events at Inspire Arena (pictured) during the first phase of the soft opening. Today (Thursday), the resort, with non-gaming amenities, expects to attract Chinese and Japanese to K-pop awards and other gatherings as it awaits permission to operate a foreigner-only casino on site.

According to a previous statement from management, the gaming facility could be open until Lunar New Year in the first quarter of next year.

Until then, "we have a lot of non-casino amenities in our building for profit," Mr. Shi said.

"Hotel towers, convention halls, and arenas are the cornerstones of the first phase. Resorts are primarily geared towards Koreans," he added.

Inspire Real Estate is making its first foray into Asia by a U.S. Mohegan tribal gaming agency, which trades as Mohegan Gaming. The real estate boss said what the promoter calls "Phase 1a" has seen a capital expenditure of about W2.00 trillion (currently W1.55 billion), with that amount fully deployed.

Si said Chinese and Japanese customers are "already showing interest in the venue," especially for the Melon Music Awards (MMA), a K-pop event expected to draw 12,000 attendees. "We use social media from Korea, China, and Japan online, including "37,000 followers on our Instagram account," to promote the event," he explained.

Si said the strategy to attract customers to non-gaming events is to "pay professional marketers to use non-gaming amenities to induce foreign stays and
