R&F Korea (RFKR), the organizer of the stopped foreigner-only casino project (shown in a file photo) in Incheon, plans to ask the authorities in Incheon to postpone the opening date by another 12 months until Dec. 29. That is what the company mentioned to GGRAsia in response to our inquiries.

A quarter of the planned development work was completed by the time construction stopped a few years ago.

The current deadline for construction is March 17, 2024, as set by the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

RFKR, a company linked to financially struggling Chinese real estate group Guangzhou R&F Properties Limited, hit a milestone on Dec. 16 announcing the need for more time in theory for the industry ministry.

A ministry official clarified to GGRAsia on Dec. 13 that RFKR, which the ministry calls the company's own risk, will be allowed to request a new extension "over the deadline" for notification.

RFKR has allowed four pushbacks on launch dates since 2018, a period when Caesars Entertainment was previously the casino partner in the scheme. In early 2021, a casino brand acquired by U.S. regional casino business Eldorado Resorts Inc. sold its stake in the South Korean resort project, the report showed.

The RFKR plan is located on Yeongjong Island, near Incheon International Airport, Yeongjong Island's main airport.
