Thailand's lower house committee, which is responsible for a feasibility study on Thailand's legalization of casinos, will submit its report to the Thai parliament next week, according to the Bangkok Post.

Citing senior members of the Peutai Party, the outlet said a special committee on casino legalization had completed its study, confirming the possibility of legalization.

The newspaper quoted Deputy Finance Minister Houlapun Amonvivat, chairman of the House select committee, as saying on Tuesday that the committee's research had been completed and had comprehensive information on the subject.

Once the House adopts the study, it will be forwarded to the Cabinet for approval and implementation, the minister added.

Sourawong Tienhong, secretary general of the Putai party and vice chairman of the special committee, a key member of the coalition, said the committee would conclude its study on Thursday and propose it to the House of Commons next week.

"If this materializes, it can generate huge revenue for the country. What we emphasize is the entertainment complex. Casino will be a small part of such a complex," Sora Wong was quoted as saying.

In July 2022, a parliamentary committee submitted a report to the National Assembly reviewing Thailand's introduction of casino resorts. It recommended that the government allow "entertainment complexes," including legitimate casinos, and establish them in several regions across the country.
