Iran has a ticket to the quarterfinals despite the bad news of Mehdi Taremi's exit.

Iran won the round of 16 at the 2023 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Qatar Asian Cup at 7 p.m.  in Doha, Qatar, after a bloody battle with Syria to the penalty shootout.

As a result, Iran will face Japan in the quarterfinals.

Iran took the lead in the 34th minute with Meditairemi's first goal of the penalty kick.

Earlier, Taremi won a penalty by inducing a foul from Syrian defender Aiham Ousu.

Iran, which was leading 1-0, allowed an equalizer.

Goalkeeper Alireza Beiranband committed a foul on the foot of Syrian striker Pablo Sabag, and Omar Karvin scored a penalty to put the game back to square one in the 19th minute.

In the second half of extra time, Iran faced a crisis.

In the first minute of extra time, Taremi was warned of a foul while stopping the opponent's counterattack.

Taremi, who was warned in the 36th minute of the second half, was sent off for accumulating warnings.

In the end, the two teams entered overtime, and neither team scored, so the penalty shootout was decided.  토토사이트
