The Marston House has a vivid history. It was first commissioned by distinguished San Diego dwellers George Marston and his wife Anna to work as their private residence. Constructed in 오피스타 and Crafts style by renowned local architects Irving Gill and William Hebbard, no expenditure was saved to create a property that mirrored the Marston family's appreciation for beauty as well as devotion to social progress.

Over the decades, The Marston House passed through many owners. Luckily previous caretakers had the foresight to maintain the property to preserve its historic architectural integrity. In 1987, the Save Our Heritage Organization (SOHO) bought and renewed the estate, turning it into a cultural center and museum.
