Jeonbuk Hyundai finished the especially difficult season with its advance to the round of 16 in the 2023-2024 Asian Football Confederation AFC Champions League ACL.

Jeonbuk led by Coach Dan Petrescu of Romania, beat Bangkok United of Thailand 3-2 in its sixth Group F match held at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium on Sunday, and secured its advance to the round of 16 strongest teams with four wins and two losses and 12 points. Bangkok, the No. 1 player in the group, already confirmed its advance to the round of 16 strongest teams with four wins, one draw and one loss, and 13 points.

Right wing Lee Dong-jun showed off with two goals and one assist. Trailing 0-1, Lee helped Moon Seon-min score the equalizer with a low cross in the 42nd minute of the first half, and scored a come-from-behind goal after receiving a ball that Song Min-gyu connected with a fast penetration in the 31st minute of the second half when the score was 1-1. In the 33rd minute of the second half, Moon Seon-min's ball was poked by a strong rush to the gate and scored an additional goal. Lee Dong-jun, who wore a Jeonbuk uniform this year, failed to play his part due to injury, but scored his first and second goals in the final game of the season, earning his name value. Jeonbuk lost additional points in the last minute of the second half, but it kept its win until the end. 안전놀이터 추천

Jeonbuk, which could have clinched a ticket to the round of 16 by ranking second in its group even if it tied, had a rough start. Jeong Tae-wook, who was sent off in Game 5, and Hong Jeong-ho, who injured his head in the final K-League 1 match against Ulsan Hyundai, left the team. Yoon Young-sun was excluded due to training as a leader, and key midfielder Baek Seung-ho was also excluded due to injury.

Early on, the situation was not favorable. "I prepared firmly. I also showed good performance in my training," Petrescu said, vowing to win the match, and gave up the first goal to Bangkok winger Zarunongkran at the fourth minute of the first half. It was fatal that the left side that the national team's fullback Kim Jin-su endured was broken down.

Bad luck continued. Center midfielder Boateng was replaced by Lee Soo-bin in the 33rd minute of the first half due to injury. Fortunately, he balanced before the end of the first half. Jeonbuk also launched an onslaught in the second half. Park Jae-yong's shot was blocked by the goalkeeper at the 18th minute of the second half, and Song Min-gyu's shot was hit by the crossbar five minutes later, but it was successful with strong tenacity.

On the other hand, Incheon United in Group G was unfortunately eliminated. In the sixth away match held in Manila, the team beat Kaya FC the Philippines 3-1 to make it four wins, two losses, and 12 points, but failed to advance to the round of 16 as Yokohama Marinos defeated Shandong Taishan FC China, led by Choi Kang-hee, 3-0. With the three teams tied in points, the two wins and two losses were the same until the opponent match, and Incheon with a margin of -2 was eventually pushed to third place, trailing Yokohama +1 and Shandong 0.
