Do you feel rested after taking Ambien? Ambien's primary function is to initiate sleep, so it may help you fall asleep faster. Feeling rested after taking Ambien depends on factors like sleep duration and quality. It doesn't guarantee feeling refreshed, as that can be influenced by various factors.

What is the best sleeping pill that is not addictive? Melatonin supplements or certain prescription medications like trazodone are considered less habit-forming alternatives to traditional sleeping pills.

Is Ambien like Xanax? Ambien and Xanax are different medications. Ambien is a sedative used for sleep, while Xanax is a benzodiazepine used to treat anxiety and panic disorders. They have distinct mechanisms of action and effects.

Is Ambien a powerful drug? Ambien is considered a potent sedative-hypnotic medication. It can be highly effective in promoting sleep, but its potency also means it should be used cautiously, under medical supervision, and for short durations to avoid dependence and side effects.

Is zolpidem really that bad? Zolpidem, like any medication, has benefits and risks. It can be effective for treating short-term insomnia when used as directed. However, it's essential to follow medical advice, avoid misuse, and be aware of potential side effects and dependency issues.

The smile that says I'm free: 'Incredibly grateful' Kerry Kennedy beams as she is ACQUITTED of drugged driving in New York

Kerry Kennedy has been acquitted of drugged driving after she accidentally took a sleeping pill and then took a wild spin down a New York highway.

'I'm incredibly grateful to the jury for working so hard on this case, and to my lawyers and to my family and friends and so many other people who supported me,' she said after the verdict was reached Friday morning.

'I'm happy justice was done.'

She went on to say that she plans to 'celebrate' and won't be holding a grudge.

'I'm not angry about anything right now,' she said before adding that the case shows that America needs 'to take a hard look at the criminal justice system'.

The misdemeanor charge carried the potential for up to a year in jail, though even that would be unlikely for a first-time offender.

The human-rights advocate is the ex-wife of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, a daughter of former Senator Robert F. Kennedy and a niece of President John F. Kennedy.

The smile that says she's acquitted: Kerry Kennedy looked happy as she left the White Plains courtroom on Friday with her mother Ethel by her side

Grateful: Kerry Kennedy left court on Friday with her elderly mother Ethel Kennedy, daughter Cara Kennedy Cuomo and 'wonderful lawyers'

Her 85-year-old mother, Ethel Kennedy, and other members of their famous family attended the trial, which drew so much attention that it was moved from a small-town courtroom to a bigger courthouse in White Plains.

The case was based around an accident when her car hit a tractor-trailer in 2012. She was found slumped at the steering wheel.

Kennedy said she took the sleeping pill by mistake instead of her thyroid medication. She testified that the drug overpowered her and she doesn't remember the crash.

The biggest question in the case was not whether she had taken the sleeping pill by mistake since both the prosecution and the defense agreed on that point.

The potentially problematic point, however, was whether or not she realized she was impaired when she finally pulled over.

The prosecution said even if the pill were taken accidentally, Kennedy should have pulled over when she felt its effects.

The verdict is in: The six-person jury deliberated after Kennedy, 54, took the stand

Police said she failed several sobriety tests at the scene but passed several tests a few hours later at a police station.

'If I realized I was impaired, I would have pulled over,' Kennedy testified.

A few days later, Kennedy said her doctors believed it was caused by a seizure, stemming from a brain injury early in her life. Then blood tests found a small amount of zolpidem, sometimes sold under the brand name Ambien.

Deliberations resumed Friday in Kennedy's trial, where questions about the effects of the sleeping drug zolpidem are at the forefront. The six-person jury asked for a brief readback of expert testimony during roughly 45 minutes of deliberations Thursday in a court in suburban White Plains.

Kennedy was arrested in 2012 on a misdemeanor charge of driving while impaired.

She had driven her Lexus wildly on a highway, sideswiping a tractor-trailer, blowing one of her tires and yet continuing to the next exit, witnesses testified.

Answering questions: Kennedy thanked her supporters and legal team after the verdict was reached

Blood tests showed a small amount of zolpidem, sometimes sold under the brand name Ambien.

Kennedy, 54, said she'd accidentally taken it instead of her daily thyroid pill, and she testified that she had no idea how it was affecting her as she drove.

She said she had no memory of even being on the highway.

Prosecutor Doreen Lloyd disputed Kennedy's account, suggesting in a closing argument Thursday that the human rights advocate ignored the onset of symptoms because 'she had a schedule to meet.'

And while Kennedy took the pill by mistake, 'she is responsible for the chain of events that happened after that,' Lloyd said.

She insisted zolpidem works gradually, saying Kennedy's testimony 'belies the science of this drug.'
Mocking the title of one of Kennedy's own books, Lloyd urged the jury to 'speak truth to power.'

Three generations: Kerry's three daughters from her marriage to Andrew Cuomo took turns accompanying her to court, and Cara (left) was with her on Friday

But defense attorney Gerald Lefcourt said there was no evidence - and it made no sense to believe - that Kennedy was aware, while driving, that she'd taken the pill.

'Accidents are not crimes,' Lefcourt said.

With Kennedy's mother, Ethel, and other relatives in the front row, Lefcourt said Kennedy was 'not seeking advantage because of her family.'

The trial is 'not a TV call-in program,' he said. 'This is an American court.'

Earlier Thursday, Lefcourt brought up a 2013 New England Journal of Medicine article saying that people who take zolpidem 'frequently do not recognize their impaired state.'

It would be even more difficult for someone who didn't know he or she had taken the drug to understand what was going on, clinical pharmacologist Dr. David Benjamin told jurors. He said he was involved in testing zolpidem as the manufacturer sought Food and Drug Administration approval in the 1990s.

Lloyd countered that the article concerned impairment the morning after a night's sleep, not impairment before sleeping.

THE KENNEDY GREAT ESCAPES: OTHER INFAMOUS CASES OF MURDER, RAPE AND DUI WHERE MEMBERS OF THE STORIED CLAN WERE ACQUITTED

Douglas Kennedy- Kerry's brother- Acquitted of harassment and child endangerment after kicking a nurse in the maternity ward as he tried to leave the hospital with his newborn child in 2012. Like Kerry, he brought up his father's assassination during his testimony in the courtroom, saying that he wanted to bring the newborn out of the hospital in order to spend time with it like he was never able to do with his father.

Senator Ted Kennedy- Kerry's uncle- Infamously drove off a bridge in Cappaquiddick Island, Massachusetts in 1969, killing his passenger Mary Joe Kopechne. He fled the scene of the accident and didn't report it for nine hours, during which time Ms Kopechne died. He received a two month suspended jail sentence after pleading guilty to leaving the scene of a crime.

Former Congressman Patrick Kennedy- Kerry's cousin- Crashed his car into a Capitol Hill barricade at 2.45am in May 2006. The then-Congressman from Rhode Island, who has a history of drug and alcohol abuse, initially claimed that he was disoriented due to Ambien- the same drug that was in Kerry's system at the time of her crash- but he also had reportedly been drinking. He went to rehab and made a deal with prosecutors that by pleading guilty to driving under the influence, he would be let off with one year's probation and a $350 fine.

William Kennedy Smith- Kerry's cousin- Acquitted of rape after he was charged following a sexual encounter with a woman in Palm Beach in 1991. He was out at a bar with his uncle Ted and Ted's son Patrick (both mentioned above) when they met two young women. The group went back to the Kennedy's house in the area and William, then 30, went on a walk on the beach with one of the women, aged 29. She claimed he raped her while he said they had consensual sex. He was acquitted of all charges. He later had a sexual assault case brought on by a female coworker dismissed in 2005 and settled out of court when a second such case was brought that same year.

Mary Richardson Kennedy- Kerry's deceased sister-in-law- Just days after her husband Robert Kennedy Jr filed for divorce, Mary was charged with drunk driving in May 2010. She pled guilty and had her license suspended, but was arrested for drugged driving a month later. The mother-of-four killed herself in May 2012.

Michael Skakel- Kerry's cousin- Charged with the 1975 murder of his 15-year-old neighbor Martha Moxley and spent 11 years behind bars following a 2002 conviction but he has been released from jail while he awaits a new trial. A judge recently allowed him to have a GPS tracking device moved from his ankle to a different part of his body so that he can fit his foot in a ski boot.

EXCLUSIVE: Kerry Kennedy's very close friendship with 90210 hunk 19 years her junior who has supported her through her DUI ordeal

Trevor Donovan, 35, calls Kerry Kennedy his 'besty' and they've 'been tight for a couple of years'

Has supported her after her DUI arrest in July 2012. She was acquitted at trial this week over the charges

Kennedy family members worry that close friendship could spark additional censure for the scandal-hit family

Beleaguered heiress Kerry Kennedy has been quietly seeking comfort from sexy 90210 actor Trevor Donovan, who is 19 years her junior.

'Trevor and Kerry have been tight for a couple of years. They travel around the world together,' a Kennedy family member revealed to MailOnline.

'Kerry called Trevor shortly after the DUI accident', Michael Yanni, Trevor's manager, told MailOnline.

Closer: Hunky 90210 actor Trevor Donovan, 35, shares a special bond with Kerry Kennedy, 54, despite their 19-year age difference. They were introduced by his manager several years ago

Aprez-ski cuddle: Trevor and Kerry,  here in Park City, Utah in 2012, are avid skiers. Trevor has also joined the Kennedy clan at their Hyannis Port, Mass. retreat and he's considered an honorary member of the family

The niece of President John F. Kennedy was arrested by police in Westchester County, NY in July, 2012 after crashing into a truck during a wild ride down the interstate highway in her Lexus SUV while under the influence of Ambien. She was acquitted of DUI today by a jury in White Plains, New York.

'Trevor was supportive - he'd never seen her drunk or under the influence when he's been out with her,' said Yanni, a human rights activist who introduced 54-year-old Kerry to Donovan several years ago.

The 35-year-old actor became a poster boy for women - and men - when he won the role of Teddy Montgomery in 90210 in 2009.

Donovan's character morphed from a serial dater of women to an out-of-the-closet gay man in the series.

Party hardy: Trevor has been to numerous events with Kerry but has never seen her get drunk or do drugs

Asked about being a straight man playing a gay character, Donovan said at the time: 'It's been good for me. Girls want to challenge it. They kind of assume I'm gay in real life and want to change me back. Of course I let them.'

Donovan famously did a steamy 'reverse cowgirl', straddling actress Sandra Echeverria in Oliver Stone's 2012 drug dealer film, Savages.

Kennedy, 54, the seventh child of the late Robert F. Kennedy, runs the RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights and travels extensively as an advocate for children and women.

The couple connected a few years ago when Donovan volunteered at the organization and have been close ever since.

Donovan has been included in ski vacations with the family and has even been a guest at the exclusive Kennedy compound in Hyannis Port, Mass.

They have been photographed in public together several times— his arm placed lovingly around her.

Donovan has called her his 'besty' and revealed that Kerry and her mother, 85-year-old Ethel, made him an 'honorary Kennedy'.

Ripped: Trevor was hands on with British beauty Kelly Brook at a modeling shoot in California

While there's no suggestion they're anything other than very close friends - Donovan has been tweeting recently about going on a series of blind dates - Kennedy family members worry that Kerry's relationship with Donavan could spark additional censure for the controversial family.

'Trevor and Kerry are extremely low key and discreet. But there is great affection between them. They are soul mates and have the same passions for social justice, outdoor sports and animals', the family member told MailOnline.

Kennedy has three daughters with her ex-husband, New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo, Michaela, 17, and twins Cara and Mariah, 19.

Kennedy's marriage to Cuomo exploded in 2003, when it was revealed she was having an affair with a handsome polo playing multi-millionaire named Bruce Colley, then 50.

Cuomo, who reportedly had himself been having a series of extra-marital affairs, promptly divorced the Kennedy heiress.

Cheating & lies: Kerry Kennedy married now NY Governor Andrew Cuomo in Washington DC in 1990. But 13 years later they split after her scandalous affair with polo player Bruce Colley was revealed

Blind Date: Trevor has admitted that he's been dating. He was spotted lunching with a brunette at King's Road Cafe in Hollywood during the trial.  But the actor has tweeted how much he misses Kerry

Sources close to the families have revealed that the Cuomo/Kennedy union was basically an arranged marriage meant to unite the two powerful American political dynasties and revive the
badly sagging Kennedy brand.

Years of scandal - from posthumous revelations about JFK's sexual exploits with movie stars such as Marilyn Monroe and mob molls like Judith Campbell Exner to Ted Kennedy's drunken plunge into the sea where a female aide drowned - did little to bring back the glory days of Camelot.

Even tragic John F. Kennedy Jr., who famously denounced his Kennedy cousins as 'poster boys for bad behavior', had a tumultuous marriage with a reportedly cocaine-addicted wife.

Donovan has not been at Kennedy's side at the New York trial, remaining in Los Angeles where he is working on several projects.

On November 22, Trevor tweeted Kerry: 'Miss you friend'.

Family sources believe that now the trial is over and Kerry can focus once again on her human rights work, they will pick up where they left off. Yanni says they are 'best friends'.
