Difference Between Indica and Sativa?

It is the question that every grower (but also smoker) asks himself the moment he starts to study weed more closely. First of all, it is important to know that both scientifically and legally, there are no differences between the two species. Apart from the scientific and legal similarities, there is a huge difference in the external characteristics of the Indica and Sativa cannabis plant, the flowering time of the plant and its effects.

The Appearance of a Sativa and Indica

The cannabis plant always adapts to its environment. This makes the difference between Indica and Sativa very different in appearance, given that the different species grow mostly in the same place on earth. Cannabis Sativa tends to grow around the equator. As a result, the plant has taught itself to make the most of shorter regular periods of light. This is because such a plant will take every opportunity to grow, to rise above other plants and to consume more sunlight. The result of this is that most Sativa plants grow quite large and therefore often have a higher yield.

 Indica Cannabis Plant

Indica plants, however, look ”thicker” and more bushy. This too has to do with how the plant grows in its own habitat. There is less competition for sunlight and less dense vegetation than a jungle.

Flowering Time of an Indica and Sativa

As expected, Indica’s flower faster, on average between 45 and 60 days. With Sativas we talk about 60 to 90 days. It is important to note that Sativas generally need less time in the growth phase, while an Indica takes longer. In the end it all comes down to about the same thing from seed to harvest.

What is the difference between Indica and Sativa?

The Effects

In general, we speak of stoned when it comes to indica and high when it comes to sativa. Being stoned refers more to the physical experience. Think of your taste, sense of touch, hearing and sight. It can also give the user a heavy feeling in arms and legs (as weather as a stone).
Being high is more about the psychological effects of cannabis. These include a cheerful and/or laughing feeling. The feeling of being more creative and according to some even a higher degree of clarity of mind.
