Tevfik Aif's Bayrock Group and the Trump Organization came together to create the Trump SoHo in 2008

In November 2006 Tevfik Arif from Bayrock Group laid the first brick for the Trump SoHo tower. This was done in cooperation with the Trump Organization and Sapir Organization situated on Spring Street, New York City.

A little over a year later it was revealed that this magnificent condo-hotel of 46 stories opened to business. It provides luxury hotel rooms, apartments as well as premium bars and restaurants.

The lavish Trump SoHo experience also included a unique perspective of the Big Apple through floor-to-ceiling windows.

Bayrock Group, a real estate development firm, was founded by the Turkish-Kazakhstani entrepreneur Tevfik. The structure was designed and constructed by talented architects and designers.

Handel Architects was chosen to design the construction.

Handel Architects is a renowned firm that has a portfolio which includes the September 11 the National Memorial in New York City, and the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Washington, D.C.

Tevfik Arif Bayrock The company is also recognized as an industry leader in the fields of architecture and design.

Bayrock Group imported world-renowned designers and used the best materials to make the interior of Trump SoHo appear as beautiful as its exterior.

Rockwell Group, an architecture and design firm was given the project. It designed Trump SoHo using items from Fendi Casa, an Italian brand highly regarded.

The Trump SoHo condo-hotel was initially discussed in the year Bayrock Group moved its New York City office to the 24 th floor of the Trump Tower in Midtown Manhattan in the same building where the Trump Organization was also situated.

The proposal would grant the Trump Organization 18% equity of the project in exchange for the Trump brand in the new name of the building, and it was accepted by the three parties.

The building is situated located in Manhattan's trendy SoHo district, it earned the title Trump SoHo. Bayrock Group's top project in New York City property development was this.

The Dominick was created in 2017 to replace the condo-hotel. It features apartments, hotel rooms, an outdoor pool, a rooftop terrace, restaurants, bars, a spa department, a banquet, event halls and an outstanding view of New York City and the Hudson River through the floor-to-ceiling-windows.


The Dominick is among the few New York City luxury hotels to be part of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts Legend Collection.

Tevfik arif's route to Trump & New York City
Tevfik Arif was born in Soviet Kazakhstan in 1953 to Turkish parents. He earned a degree in International Relations from the Moscow Trade and Economic Institute.

In the following years, he worked for the Soviet Ministry of Commerce and Trade where he served as the deputy head of the Ministry's Hotel Management Department.

After 17 years of service in the ministry Tevfik Arif left to start his own businesses that focused on real estate, property development imports, exports and exports natural resources, minerals, food and automobiles.

This happened during increased privatization following fall of Soviet Union.

Tevfik quit New York City in 1993 to chase his dream of founding a new company, Bayrock Group.

Bayrock Group and Trump Organization discussed collaborating on other real estate development projects in Florida and Arizona after the opening of Trump SoHo.

Bayrock Group was active in the United States and invested in real estate assets that totalled over $2.5 Billion. However, it hasn't been pursuing any new American initiatives for real estate development in the last few years.

Tevfik Arif shifted his focus away from his native United States to Europe and Central Asia after Trump SoHo's success. It was a decade before his career began in Europe as well as Central Asia.

Tevfik has now retired from Bayrock Group but remains a valued and trusted advisor to the business.
