On Sunday, Gustavo Petro, the candidate for Gustavo Petro, confirmed the favoritism that polls have been indicating for many weeks.

The candidate stated that Colombia doesn't have a retirement system, but rather an institution that generates bank profits. Many believe this will prevent his from being President. Petro recently stated that although the pension system would not be eliminated however, he will seek to make changes regarding pensions in order to guarantee a minimum retirement age for Colombians. Petro further stated that it is not necessary to increase the age of retirement.

Another controversy is that he has repeatedly stated that he will end extraction of oil by the time when he becomes president. This is a matter that has caused uncertainty for investors.

Experts believe that Petro's plan to end oil exploration would be devastating for Colombia which would cost Colombia $4.3 trillion.

Petro said the two of them were talking to Pedro Sanchez (the Prime Minister of Spain) about his proposal.
