A French Boule, sometimes called a "boule de noir" is a very old and simple bread recipe which resembles a flattened loaf of bread. It can vary in sizes, but most often it's larger than home bread. A typical boule contains a mixture of different flours.

Bread has evolved from the ancient Romans to French in the early Middle Ages. Buckwheat, a starch-rich grain, is the main ingredient in this bread. These breads are commonly known today as French Boule. An English muffin is an equivalent bread that has a white-skinned bottom.

It is believed that the French territories were the first to produce the bread. This was around the 8th century. The first traces of this type of bread were seen around Rouen, which is in France. This dish can be served during afternoon tea. The dough is rolled out, then placed on a tray. Once the tray is heated by the camphor, or any other type of aromatic oil, the dough is heated. The French love to eat baked boule bread with white wine, butter, and other aromatic oils.

There are many variations of this simple bread recipe. The one I have mentioned is the above. This recipe is preferred by the French more than other recipes. This is due to the abundance of this type of food in France. Other variations of the original recipe are more complicated as they involve using yeast, different nuts and seeds, raisins and dates.

A roux and some butter are the basic ingredients of the French boule recipe. The traditional look can be completed by adding nuts like walnuts, pecans, or almonds. To ensure perfect results when making your own roux, use a high quality white flour. The bread crust should be soft and flaky. A real expert would say that if you make your own French Boule, then choose the crust based on personal preference. This crust type is not that hard to achieve and can also be kept for a long time.

Bread should not contain any sugar or starch added to it for a truly authentic taste. Any sweetener or starch will only enhance the bread's flavor and texture. French bread should be clearly labeled with the ingredients used to make it. Avoid breads that say "gluten-free", because they could contain wheat traces.

The classic French bread is often available in a loaf which is round or square in shape. A traditional French boule recipe using this type of bread will consist of eggs, butter, milk and white wine or cognac. It is usually baked in either a tureen or an airtight container in wood fired ovens. This method is time-consuming and difficult to bake.

Another type of French bread is poolish. It is becoming very popular in western countries. Poolish is an artisan loaf, which was created in Brittany, France. The ingredients used for poolish include white wine, butter and fresh fruit. A conventional oven, a nonstick frying pan, and a wooden knife are all necessary to bake poolish.

A patte, a French round oven that is traditionally used for bread baking, will produce the best bread possible with a beautiful crust. Heat the patte to a simmer, then add the butter, sugar, salt, and flour to the pan. Turn on the oven and heat for approximately two hours before baking your dough. After baking the dough, remove the pan from the oven and let it cool.

Now you can mix together the ingredients to make your poolish: egg whites, sugar, fresh squeezed lemon juice, brandy, or cognac. Mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl. Next, take your levain bread. Place it in the middle of the loaf. Cover the bread with the rest of the egg white and press it into it.

Once the loaf is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool down to room temperature. Use a wire rack as a support for the loaf and cut it into quarters. Let the bread rest for three days by covering the open end with the crust. Then, remove the wrap and cut it into four pieces. Place in your refrigerator. This French Boule bread will stay fresh for up to three days if you make it the day before and keep it in the refrigerator. If you purchased the dough from an online bakery, you can put it in a plastic container and wrap it tightly with plastic wrap. Before freezing, add a slice of Styrofoam and some Styrofoam.
