Facts About This Foundations 2 Class …

  • Foundations 2 was created to prepare students for Algebra 1.  
  • You will learn to think and persevere your way through a problem.
  • You will learn to reason abstractly and quantitatively.
  • In addition to doing problems you will explain your thinking and critique other students' thinking.
  • You will use the appropriate tool(s) from our collection to work your way through a problem.
  • You will become more precise in your mathematics.
  • You will learn to look for patterns and structures.

What to expect from Us…

  • We will help you stay on task.
  • We will help you pass this class.
  • We will guide you in any way We can.
  • We will not tell you how to solve the problem but we will help you figure out a path to solve the problem.
  • We will value your opinions, comments and you as a human being.

   What we expect from you…

  • To bring a positive attitude.  
  • To participate and persevere through all problems.
  • To communicate in a focused, respectful manner..
  • To bring your Interactive notebook every day.
  • You need to bring a pencil, and if you need a pencil ask.
  • To be in class every day. Math is a subject where each day will build upon the previous day. Which means the more days you miss, the harder it is to catch up.
  • To be ready to start working when you enter class.

Method of Evaluation

A student's grade will be based upon their achievement on summative assessments that are written around the learning targets below.   

A = 100% - 90%

B = 89.9% - 80%

C = 79.9% - 70%

D = 69.9% - 60%

F = 59.9% or below

Categories and Weighting

  1.  Assessments/Quizzes  100%
  2. The daily work and quizzes are for practice, gaining knowledge, and learning from mistakes.
