MATH 1000 Syllabus 

Introduction to Mathematics 

General Overview:

This course is designed to introduce new mathematics terms to you and prepare you for future mathematics classes you will take in the future.  This class is in person, but you will be required to do assignments from home. If you have questions about the course or assignments, you can attend my office hours.

Course Information:

This course will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30-11:20. The classroom for this course is 023 Founders Hall. For this class, you will need something to take notes on, loose leaf paper for in class assignments, and a device to take pictures and submit homework assignments. The instructor for this course is Erica Weadock.

Required Reading:

There is no required reading for this course. Show up to class and do your assignments. If you need more help understanding the topic, email me or go to my office hours and I can try to explain it differently or send you videos that can possibly help.

Week 6 - Review / Quiz over Ch. 3 and 4

Week 7 - Review / Midterm Exam (over Ch. 1-4)

Week 8 - Ch. 5

Week 9 - Ch. 6 

Week 10 - Ch. 7

Week 11 - Review / Quiz over Ch. 5, 6, and 7

Week 12 - Ch. 8

Week 13 - Ch. 9

Week 14 - Review / Quiz over Ch. 8 and 9

Week 15 - Final Exam (Ch. 1-9)

Course Policies:

1. For this class, you will be expected to work on assignments outside of in-class time. This could include studying or doing assignments that are scheduled and are in canvas modules. You should expect to work 2-3 hours each week on assignments outside of class time. 

2. There is a no-cheating policy. All quizzes, exam, and assignments should be completed by yourself. If I catch you cheating, the assignment/quiz will result in a zero. 

3. You may bring food/drinks to class as long as it is not a distraction to other students. 

4. There is no attendance policy, but it is very important that you show up as this is when the chapters and assignments for the week will be explained. 

Summary of Content:

In order to succeed in this class, it is very important that you show up to class, do the assignments on time, spend time outside of class time, and most importantly give your best. Refer to this syllabus for all of the course policies and the schedule of what we will be doing in class. Do not be afraid to contact me or see me for office hours if you are struggling or feel you are struggling. I will try my best to help each and every one of you to succeed in this class.
