Course Overview
This course is a two week Kindergarten Math Course.
Course Session Information
Students will attend class in-person on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Students will attend class online on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Course Learning Objectives
This course is a hybird course. Students will attend classes both online, and in-person. The course learning objectives are provided below. Students will engage in Google Meets every Tuesday and Thursday. Students must login and be on the meet by 7:30 each morning.
Course Learning Objective 1 – I can represent addition in a variety of ways.
Course Learning Objective 2 – I can fluently add within 5 using a variety of strategies.
Course Learning Objective 3 – I can represent subtraction in a variety of ways.
Course Learning Objective 4 - I can fluently subtract within 5 using a variety of strategies.
Course Learning Objective 5 – I can differentiate between addition and subtraction by looking at the addition sign and the minus sign.
Course Module Activities for Module One
Activity one of module one: Exploring Addition
During this module, the students will explore addition through student-centered learning. The student will view the different station set up in the room. Each of the stations will be set up with different objects. The students will practice putting the objects together with their classmates. The teacher will monitor the students throughout the module.
Activity two of module one: Representing Addition Interactive Google Slide
During this module, the students will be working in Google Classroom. The students will view the Google Slide after the Google Meet the students will interact with the google slide. The students will practice putting objects together.
Activity three of module one: Annie Addition and Ellie Equal
During this module, the students will learn about the plus sign and the equal sign. The students will understand that when the say the plus sign, they are joining. Students will also understand that the plus sigh means “and” equal sign means “is”. The students will be given a ten frame to go along with their work sheet. The students will represent the problems on the worksheet with circles on their ten-frame. The teacher will project the worksheet along with the ten-frame on the board. Together, the teacher and the students will complete the worksheet.
Activity four of module one: Adding with the number line Google Slide/Forum
During this module, the students will be working on the Adding with the number line Google slide. After completing the Google Meet, the students will practice adding with the number line using the Google Slide. The students will interact with the Google Slide. After completing the Google Slide, the students will open the Adding with the number line Google Forum. The students will complete the 5 addition problems using the number line provided, and submit the answers to the teacher. The students will be provided with immediate feedback from the Google Forum.
Activity five of module one: Adding with Bears Activity
During this module, the teacher will review what the plus sign and equal sign mean using an anchor chart. Them, the teacher will pass out a bag of bears along with a worksheet to each of the students. The teacher will then ask the students to independently complete the worksheet using the bears to represent the numbers. The teacher will then check the worksheets and provide feedback to the students.
Course Module Activities for Module Two
Activity one of module two: Exploring Subtraction
During this module, the students will explore subtraction through student-centered learning. The student will view the different station set up in the room. Activity two of module two: Representing Subtraction Interactive Google Slide
During this module, the students will be working in Google Classroom. The students will view the Google Slide after the Google Meet the students will interact with the google slide. The students will practice taking objects away.
Activity three of module two: Sammy Subtraction and Ellie Equal
During this module, the students will learn about the minus sign and the equal sign. The students will understand that when they see the minus sign, they are taking away. Students will also understand that the minus sigh means “take away”, and the equal sign means “is”. The students will be given a ten frame to go along with their work sheet. The students will represent the problems on the worksheet with circles on their ten-frame. The teacher will project the worksheet along with the ten-frame on the board. Together, the teacher and the students will complete the worksheet.

During this module, the students will be working on the subtracting with the number line Google slide. Course Module Activities for Module Three
Activity one of module three: Addition and subtraction IXL Review Activity
The students will logon to their chromebooks. The students will then find IXL. The students will complete the selected problems. The students will use their bear manipulatives from modules one and two.
Activity two of module three: Addition and Subtraction Google Slide Review
The students will review the Addition and Subtraction Google Slide Review after completing the Google Meet. The students will interact with the different problems. The students will pay close attention to the signs.
Activity three of module three: Addition and Subtraction Collaborative Pair Assignment
The students will get with their collaborative partner. The students will then choose a strategy to use. After choosing the strategy, the students will pull out the manipulative of their choice to create a set of problems. The students must look at the sign to decide if they need to add or subtract.
Activity four of module three: Addition and Subtraction Google Forum
The students will complete the Google Forum after completing the Google Meet. The students will view a set of 10 problems. The students will need to look at the sign to decide if they need to add or subtract. The students may use the manipulative of their choice to solve the problems.
Activity five of module three: Addition and Subtraction Post Test
The students will complete the post test. The test will consist of 10 problems. The students will have to look for the signs. The students may use manipulative of their choice to complete the problems. The teacher will provide feedback from the post test.
